Piece together an amp kit by buying the components individually? Or just getting a full kit from a dealer?

I was thinking it'd be cheaper to piece it together b/c I could buy exact lengths of power and ground, instead of paying for 25 ft of power and 3 ft of ground. I wont need but 10-12 ft of power and maybe 1.5 ft of ground.

I also have an extra set of RCA's and remote wire laying around.

And I dont want to use a fuse. I want to go with a circuit breaker. If I use a circuit breaker, do I have to mount it less than 18 inches away from the battery, or can I mount it inside the truck?

Reason I dont want to drop $70 or so on a kit, is b/c I'm pretty strapped for cash right now, and I figure if I can get a lil bit at a time, it'd be cheaper.

My concept of a pre-packaged amplifier installation kit, is to assist those who wish for a fast and simple installation. Not wanting to be disadvantaged from forgetting something, or buying something that was not needed for the installation.

If you are unsure of what is needed, or the job is time based, then I would recommend purchasing the amp kit. But, if you have little or no constraints, then purchasing the necessary components on an individual basis may be the better option for you.

Yes, you still need to mount the circuit breaker as close to the battery as you can.
