Guys.

I am trying to find an old Sq compeditor named Mike Mineo from the New York area. He had a Rockford loaded Camero back in the late 90's. I was fortunate enough to judge this car twice at USAC finals. The car still ranks as one of the best I have had the privilage to judge. It had midbass that actually staged, and he did it with door mounted midbass drivers. (Ohh my)

I am building a similar car and would like some advice if possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Guys.

Sorry I have been gone so long. But I am now working for a company called MISSCO. I install A/V equipment, in conference rooms and schools. With a substantial pay increase. But man does the equipment cost more.

I have now found the funds to finally build my own stereo/show vehicle. (always a builder, never an owner) Thats the reason I wanted to talk to Mineo.

Have a good one.

The name of the shop was/is Brooklyn's Best Audio.

The webpage was/is http://www.bbaudio.com (I haven't tried it in forever).

You may want to try a post at carsound. Lot of old competitors surf there still, and some may have been in contact with him.

Andy Jones:

Thank you very much.

Winslow:

Whats up? Sorry I have not been on much in the last year. But I have been busy. Ohhh yea, you remember the Illusion Audio 8's I got from you? You were not kidding about not having much midbass output. (An 8 that wont thump,, who'ed of thought it?) Even with 150w per speaker.
Give me a call when you can.

East Coast:

The midbass in his car actually sounded like it was coming from the hood orniment. And the louder the system got the more frontal engery it had.

Most of the vehicles "I" have judged have reduced midbass levels in order to make the system image and stage properly. (maybe I am a midbass freak, who knows?) I mean when a loud rim shot comes through, you thought you felt the energy coming from the front center.

It was so strong and precisely staged that you thought you were standing at a live drum set. (with a drummer on speed!)

I hope this helps.

Thanks Jimmy,

I just noticed your sig, I think you have fixed my amp a couple times! Does your dad work there too? The guy who I dealt with, I can't remember his name, but his dad works there too.

My car does has what many would consider strong midbass, but its actually dead on and proportionate to the rest of the spectrum, and it images, no rainbow, and correct placement. It has taken me 3 years to get it to that point. I know exactly what you mean, a lot of cars sacrafice the whole 120-320 range for height, listening position, imaging etc. I get consistent 8-9/10 on height, LP and width, and as of my latest adjustments, the car is imaging spot on, and I'm almost acing tonality (which is now adjusted to what I would call perfection)Thanks for the info...I just wanted something to grade my car against.

EastCoast:

You must be refering to Ray, the owner of TIPS Inc. His dad does all the shipping and recieving. I did a lot of amp fixing there in my time too, but I learned it from Ray.

Your explination of midbass (and some cars lack there of) is "a lot better than what I had", but I am glad you understand.

If you get a chance, could you referesh my memory about your system?

Thanks.

You see much of the old "gang" anymore? And if you see them try to find me a 4.1, I need another one... (HE!HE!HE!)

i remember Mineo's doors. He had ported enclosures for the midbass drivers in the doors. They may have even been transmission line enclosures.

You too? lol

I just really need mine fixed...but another one wouldn't be bad.

Or a couple heatsinks and another fan shroud.
