Finally got some bass in my car and looks like my rearview mirror's going to fall off, the cars behind me do about a 4" excursion and I can't see shiat!

So uh, what should I do before it falls off and take a chunk of windshield along?

I ripped mine off last year, and it took glass with it.......so what i did was i went over to my boys at F.B.I. and got a billet mirror. It is about half the weight as my stock mirror. Dont get me wrong, it still turns completely sideways on the first sound my woofers make but at least my windshield is safe for now (and has been)

my mirror fell off a few weeks ago after 5 months of being pounded by my 10's, but I think the heat had something to do with it also.

Addiction, if you put subs in that car the mirror will be gone in a month. We were shaking the crap out of it with only 400 watts!

I only have 1000watts and 2 12" subs, dynamat doesn't seem to help anything and the only thing I can think of is to somehow secure the mirror with a metal bracket from the ceiling.

Come on, my rearview mirror is like 150 bucks! Maybe I should just take it off [Razz]

When I had my 4 12s in with the directed,, about 10 minutes into me playing it.. it bumped, and went facing down quick.. then it started the rumble and I heard a snap and it came clean off luckily.. I would just take it out if you can.. mine was wedged.. I couldn't get the metal piece out without some vice grips.

mine has broken off as well, its connected to the windshield, but it broke off where the ball meets the socket that pivots, the metal snapped in two, i guess it slowly cracked or something its really weird cuz its like 1/4" thick metal that snapped

been driving without it for like 4 months now and it doesnt bother me

If i played my old system loud with 1 15" sub and 700-800 watts the rearview mirror would slowly start pointing to the floorboards. This year when i got a wall put in, i removed the mirror all together. When i remove the wall in a few weeks I doubt ill put it back in since ive become pretty used to driving with a wall behind me.

I've had the mirror fall off many times.Never lost glass with it though.the car that i've had my loudest systems in though ,which is a 92 ford probe, suprisingly enough never lost a mirror through 2 years of competition and several very loud (for the time) daily driver systems.
