I'm looking for a new, inexpensive sub amp, class D preferred but not required. What's out there that'll put a TRUE 500W@4ohm, and will put more at 2ohm or even 1ohm? I'd like to at least get something 2ohm stable.
Built-in low-pass crossover isn't necessarily required, but it could be nice.

Let's hear what you got, guys!

Thanks for the help.

Iz

I've got a Phoenix Gold XS 2500, it's not class D but it makes 500 W @ 4ohm and it's stable in 1 ohm stereo. I've got mine measured to deliver 520 W @ 4 ohm and 680 W @ 2 ohm /bridged... very clean and good sound.

you can get it at www.sounddomain.com for 240$ inc. LPL44 remote bass control

lz,

Have an easy "lesson" for car amps that I just got through reading. You want to know the "TRUE" power of amps? Go to www.rapidb2b.com/ars/column.asp which should answer your amp questions now that your in the market for one.

Thanks for the link Brandon! It's good for people to get informed. To bad most manufactures don't advertise their efficiency, leaving someone right back in square one. Plus some manufactures Like Memphis Audio advertise 90% efficient on there class "D" amps So don't be fooled by small fuses. As the Class D era with its Pulse Width Modulation doesn't really fit the article in the link. Typical class AB range is 20%-50% if that even. Class D is more efficient when in lower impedance, opposite of AB. The article will definately help you sort out some "Looser" amps though!

Thanks guys!!! I appreciate the input. I've looked up a couple on the Net, and have found a few that look good. Class D, remote bass control, rumble filter, crossover, and lots of power! Now I need to find online retailers. Specs look good on some of these so it's time to see what the pricetags look like!

Are the Boss Audio REV-3000D worth anything? How reliable and clean are they? I remember a time when Boss was laughed at because they were cheaply made. Have they improved?

I also like the Directed 1100d. A little pricey, but seems to be nice.

What about the Lanzar 1200D? Better price tag. What about reliability? I found an independent writeup on them that sounded like it came straight from the manufacturer! ; )

I've yet to find specs on the bd1000a1. What's the price tag on something like that?

AudioOutlet: Memphis are great bang for the $, eh? How much $ are we talking? I only need 500W/1000W (4ohm/2ohm), but headroom is fine too.

Thanks again for the input!

Iz

The Lanzar 1200D gives you a lot of power for your money, maybe not a SQ amp but if you´re a dB freak on a budget it might be something for you... It´s been working out quite ok for me so far, but you really should run it at 1 ohm to get some real power from it.
