im getting a new ride soon (yay. finally), and since its a blazer it has lots of room. i am really considering getting like 10+ low end 15s and dumping 400watts into each of them. 10subs always gives the awe factor and im sure w/ 4kwatts total that it'd get really loud. only problem being that the subs alone would run at least $1k
with $1k i could get a DD Beast (4kwatt daily driving i doubt), 2 9515's, or 4 3515s.
i'm confused as far as what to do. (DISCLAIMER: im just stating DD as a known big hitter and for price ranges, not for preference)
anyones input is asked for. or opinions on what a good 4kwatt AWE factor would be.. thx

Here in the problem lies though. Probelm 1, Audiobahn. Good Beginner Sub, but for the cash you can do a lot better.
Problem 2, with a sub that large, there would be no top end punch no tight accurate bass. Just a jumbled mess of sloppy bass. IMO- those large woofers are really not very good for much as they are so limited by thier size.

What is your idea of a low end sub? 4 - 6 image or jls would be under $1000, if those are considered low-end. High end expensive ones can be more flexible when more money for more power comes into play..... I'd get expensive subs and amp them like crazy and buy more subs on the next payday, who needs to pay for a car and rent?

i think it depends on weather you plan on competing or not. if you want to compete with 4k watts than you are only gonna wanna be running 2 or 4 subs in big ported boxes to have a chance. i would say screw competing and run something like 10 image dynamics idq, or adire audio shiva in sealed boxes. yes the peak output will be lower, but the sq will be amazing and trust me you will love it. we did and install with 12 10" diamond m5 sealed with 150 watts each and yes it only hit 150, but that thing could knock the wind out of you. hit alot harder than cars with ported set-ups hitting high 150's. plus no worries on over-excursion, playing below tuning, etc. i wish more people would run set-ups like this. matt

For a single sub with that power, I'd wait for db Don's PSI to come out, it would be over a grand, but believe me, it would be worth it. And it will take 4k for daily use.
For a bunch of subs, you could run JL W0s, Shivas, Stryke's low end subs, RF Punch Z or HE, or many others. Hell, you could even run a pile of 6.5" drivers, like 32 of them.

those new kenwood db subs seem to sound pretty good, theres a thought also.
personally, i saw go for the awe factor. with ten plus subs it will be loud, even with cheap subs. and you don't have to overpower them to do it. so go for it. i've got a small car so i'm going in the opp. direction.
use one big sub and one big box to blow away other people running 4 12's or something.
later, mike

Ok, this is what ya do.. Grab about 5 or 6 Vega series 12's. hook about 400 or 500 watts up to em and put them in a sealed box.
I say sealed box because with a sealed enclosure, you FEEL the bass alot more than a ported but a ported is way louder. If you dont plan on competing, go sealed. If you do plan on competing, this isn't the setup for you.

the vega series subs are GREAT, but there's no way in he| | would i ever put one in a sealed box. those subs enjoy turning themselves inside out in sealed enclosures.

believe me,if you want to go the cheaper route- you could use a lower end JL like w0 or whatever you could put about 300 watts per- I bet you could hit 155 with enough of em in a sealed box-say like your lower # of 12 with 2 D2's would be LOUD

the new kicker compVR's wouldn't be bad either for a relatively inexpensive sub (120 or 130 each?) throw a couple hundred watts to each and that'd get pretty loud too.
