I have a plan coming up to do a revamp of the factory Infinity sound system. I have Oz Comp 5.25" components and a set of Kenwood 6x9's to install with a PPI PC450 amp.
I have a good idea of what I'm doing BUT I'm curious as to how to approach replacing the front speakers. The thing that makes it difficult is that the Oz's have a passive crossover. This means I ought to run new speaker wire to the door because I can't use factory wire without cutting it up (which I'd like to avoid). Has anyone done a 95+ Eclipse setup like this?
It's a 97 Eclipse GS-T Spyder http://www.erols.com/spoulson/eclipse

Bro, let me tell ya, those oz audio will blow your mind!!!! I have a set of oz 130 5" mids in my ride and they sound great!!! One question ?? how are you planing to use the factory wiring with your ppr amp?? are you going to run your mids off of your radio and a sub off of your ppi??? If you do that you will not see what those oz's can do!!!

My plan is NOT to use factory wiring. I had the Oz's installed in my previous car and that's been traded in for this Eclipse. And yes, they are incredible.
I bought wiring harnesses for the stock head unit (cd/tape combo), for the car's wiring harness, and for the factory Infinity amp. the end result is I can wire up the factory head unit to give me RCA pre-outs without having to cut/splice any factory wiring. I will be taking the weak infinity amp out for my PPI.
Running wire to my rear 6x9's are a pinch. Running them to the door is the problem. How do I get custom speaker wire into the door?
