I have a Punch 400x4 (50w x 4) in my closet that I want to add to my current system but I'm not sure if my charging system can handle it. What I have now in my '95 Grand Prix is a Clarion 9575rz head unit, the RF Symmetry/Epx2 w/ the 28 band EQ, from there I have a Punch 4020 (20w x 4) running a pair of Boston Rally separates in the front and a pair of Polk DB 6x9's in the rear. Driving my 2 JL 12w4's is a Punch 200ix bridged mono. I have an Optima red top battery and the stock 105 amp alternator that was rebuilt to put out about 130 amps. I also have a 1 farad cap installed. I have another identical cap in my closet that I could also add. What I want to do is put the 400x4 on my separates in the front and run the 4020 to my 6x9's in the rear, probably in a mixed mono configuration. The Polks have a nice feature where you can run the tweets/mids separate from the woofers. With this configuration I could get the most out of the Symmetry/Epx2- A dedicated amp for all my mids (bandpass) and dedicated amps for the tweets. The total fuse amperage for this set up would be 130 amps. Should I add the amp or should I just replace the 4020 with the 400x4? Am I looking at major charging system problems in the future with all of the amps installed? Right now my highs cannot keep up with lows. What would you guys do? Oh and also, due to lack of space I prefer to NOT add a second battery. I never play the system with the car off anyway. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In my humble opinion, you should be able to add it just fine. I'm not sure if the Red Tops are optimal for audio usage, thought it was the Yellow toppers, but anyway it should pull it's own weight in gold.

I don't forsee a problem with it, especially if you have the extra cap to use. Even if you just pulled the 4020 for the 400x4, you'd still have hellishly good sound and louder too, but all three should run fine
