Before I ask my question(s), I have to say that this is one great site!!!

Now, I recently hired Bobby Gately of www.gatelyaudio.com to construct an all plexiglass enclosure for my 2002 Lightning. The enclosure will be for 3 10" Kicker L7s. See link for pictures: http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/myseats/lst?.dir=/Stereo+Pics&.view=t

My question is which "ohm" speaker I should purchase for my setup? The dual 4 ohm or the dual 2 ohm, and which amp should I purchase to power the subwoofers?

Kicker recommended I install the dual 2ohm in "series parallel" and use their KX1200.1 amp to power the woofers. According to Kicker, the KX1200.1 will be a perfect match for those subwoofers. However, I want unbiased advice and I want to be sure I do this right the first time.

Any suggestions, advice, and/or recommendations on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

-Monty

Hello....I wanted to offer advice on what to power the sub woofers with. I have heard a lot of stories about these subs. A lot of good stories and a lot of bad ones. They are good subs...its just a matter of getting the right amp. A lot of people have problems with these subs cause they either over power the subs with a really good amp or they under power them with a really bad amp. Kicker is partially right...The best match for their subs is their amps, they are designed for their subs. Yet, if you get that amp, you will only be supplying ABOUT 400 watts to each of those 10" L7's. The RMS on those is 600 watts. You would be underpowering them by roughly 200 watts....So, to get more out of them you can definetly get an even bigger amplifier, you just have to know what your doing with them. There are numerous amps out there, its all up to your budget and how much you want out of those subs. Hoped that helped..._KrEzEr

Thank you for your response. I greatly appreciate it.

I talked with a local shop earlier today who recommended that I purchase the dual 4ohm speaker rather than the dual 2ohm and that I use a Phoenix Gold 1200.1 or a Rockford Fosgate 1500.1. If neither of these will supply the power the L7's require, what else is out there?

I saw the Memphis Audio MOJO amplifier @ 2400x1 @ 2ohm but with .5% THD.

or what about running 2 ohm L7's with an Audiobahn 1500.1 putting out 2000 watts @ 1ohm?

Again, thank you for taking time to address my questions.
