Hello all, I am new to this board, but am looking for some opinions. I am going to be ordering my system soon, and have figuired out everything I want to get except for my subs. I am looking at either two JL 12" W6v2's or two 12" Orion HCCAs subs. I was gonna power the JL's with an Orion 800X1 HCCA or if I got the Orion subs I would get the Orion 1200X1 HCCA amp to power them. I can afford either, its a matter of how much I want. I really like the idea of eventually having all Orion, but those things powered correctly are really really LOUD. I have a Dodge Dakota Sport ext cab, so they would be right behind me. Think I should get them facing down instead of towards the driver? I dont want to get the Orions and never use all of the sound the sub has to offer. I have not heard the W6v2's yet, but I think they are good. Anyone have them yet? Tell me about them. I am looking for real clean, low, bass in my subs. I can see either giving me this... but still dont know how much I really need to put into my truck to really bump. I dunno, what does everyone think? _KrEzEr_

dEFINITELY, UNDOUBTABLY ORION!!! Especially the hcca series. I don't think any one else will tell you anything different. You might need another amp though.......actually you will!!!

Thank you for all the responses. My question to the responses is, will the subs actually do what I am looking for. Dont get me wrong, I love Orion. But, I thought they were more of an SPL sub designed for high performance competition. What I am really looking for is clear, clean, crisp bass at that will thump enough to out perform most "common" stuff people have. Also, I am young (16) and have been saving for this system for 3 years, so every penny counts. I have been planning this and learning about it for quite some time. I want to do this once and do it right. I am not going to be in competition with these subs. I know the JL's are known for their clarity and clean bass that they put out. I wanted to know if I can get that clean bass out off Orions. If I get the orions their is a chance I would never use all the SPL that they put out, so is it worth it compared to the JL's? IF I did get the orions, I would have plenty of air to give them with my box taking up my whole ext cab and I think that a 1200X1 ORION HCCA would power those things good enough with about 600 watts to each sub (which I think is underated.) If I did get those, I would downgrade on my amp to power the componets from a 300X2 Phoenix GOld Tantrum (75 watts per channel) to a 200X2 Phoenix GOld Tantrum (50 watts per channel.) If I did this, would the 50 watts be enough to power a set of Infinity Kappas Seperates which take 90 watts RMS?....I thought it would be plenty, but I am just making sure.....Sorry the letter is so long. THanks for the help_KrEzEr

You will get awesome SPL out of the HCCA's, and if you do the enclosure right, you can get some pretty good sound from them on most any music. I think they are great. Now they are not the "Sound Quality" subs of choice, I never said that, but I think that you will be very pleased...although 600 watts a piece is nothing on these subs..they love lots of power!

I had an orion hcca 15 and it sounded great. I had it in an spl box(over 4 cubes) and it still sounded good. it also hit really hard. had 800 watts to it and it could definitly take more.

Well, thanks for all the opinion. In the end, I think I am gonna go with the JL's. I love the orions, but I dont want to buy everything at once, I want to try different brands and hear different subs. I can always work up to the Orions. But, here is what I am looking at in total, any comments or questions (or if You see something wrong that I should know about) Orion HCCA 250G4 Amp (800X1) 2 JL Audio 12W6 V2 Subs Infinity Kappa 60.3 CS Component Pioneer Premier DEH-P740MP Phoenix Gold Tantrum 300X2 I need a better battery, but wasnt sure what to get. I was gonna get an Optima Yellow top 870 battery? Think that will work or should I get the red top???? Any other questions or comments just post away....Thanks all _KrEzEr_
