but serisouly can u understand my argument that i just think it shouldnt Average 3 numbers to determine what ur highest is.. well i guess its not even tryin to get ur highest but ur highest Average that u can do..

it doesn't really average 3 numbers it measures the peak frequency and the frequencies on each side of it.

So lets say you do a 65.0 at 58 hz the termlab sees a 62 at 57 hz and a 63 at 59....thats ends up showing a score of 163.3

and think about it...it doesn't matter what you do if the guy next to you is louder his score is gonna be higher just don't think about it as much.

And thats why people have tried playing 3 frequencies at once and tried 3 HUs at once also

basically the TL is the best not because of what it does, but because of what it doesnt do...

you could hit an old TL or AC spl180 and pull a 150.. have Scott Owens hit it and then you run through again and pull a 152... then wait an hour for clouds to move in and the temp to drop and your score will change 2more dbs.. now hit the same mic later that year and viola you just gained another 2db.... now hit another comp using the same type of mic and you drop 6db and cant tell what went wrong with your system....

short of the LinX and BK, the TL sensor is the first meter to be remotely consistent and is the first high spl meter to be remotely affordable to boot.. i paid almost as much for my POS goldline spl162 which would vary 9db from day to day...

josh, you've just been misinformed.

it doesnt average over 3 seconds.

it averages the 3 frequencies it sees.

while you may play 40hz, resonation in the car, enclosure, etc... still creates more than just the 40hz tone you are playing. it also creates the frequency on either side of it, and sometimes even more.

tl averages the 3 peak frequencies it sees. not 3 seconds.

not everyone does a 3 or 4 second burp.

some only do a 1 second burp.

myself, i have ot hold a burp for 4-6 seconds.

because it takes a few seconds for the cabin to pressurize, for lack of a better term.

^^^ everything above, is how the tl and my car, were explained to me ^^^

thats it pretty much...if you can dig up one of scott owens or team louds bar graphs you'll see, they have the peak frequency their playing doing a 180+ in both vehicles i believe...the other 2 frequencies bring it back down

Josh what your talking about is how they used to use the quick capture mics...which is why Team BS did a 177 for 1/2 a second, and then did a low 160 when the new software came out because of the design
