not a complaint, but a commendation (which has been said on another post, but that's not a problem )
having beonair.com there was great ! it made it feel "a lot more real" when we could hear cars burping over the online radio the interviews with different people (sam, david mclean, terry brocks etc just ot name a few) was great !
thanks from what i understand, they are just a student radio station, but did a good job despite not knowing the first thing about cars lol....

Gordon, I agree with you. that was a great addition and I think if it returns next year it may be improved. I would like to make a suggestion though. Could we get an announcers table in the lanes, Bobby Riley on Play by Play and Alan Riley on Color Commentary? I think that if they had a nice PA system set up so that the people in the bleachers and people in the lanes could hear, it would make for great information and entertainment. I can't think of a better combination of guys either. These two are highly educated in the history of our sport, know the equipment and most of all, know the competitors. Please, please OH please make this happen.

Joining the dB Drag association, freight to and from the I-X Center, hotels, food...we spent $17,000 in 3 days and hardly had any consumers in the booth.
These are my suggestions.
1. Spend more time and effort to attract consumers so those of us that spent a small fortune displaying our products have some one to show our products to and the competitors have more people to cheer them on.
2. The music in the lanes was so loud we couldn't talk to the consumers that did come. Let the competitors make the noise.
3. Find a location that is not 30 minutes from nowhere. Prhaps down town in a populated area.
4. Have the competitor party in the host hotel or at least close.
5. Last but not least...When a "major infraction" is noticed, the entire judging staff and Wayne should drop what they are doing, review the infraction and make a decision right there and then! This is a concearn for me because we spent $5,000 to join this organisation and $12,000 more to attend it. We have plans for several trophy sponsorships and attend a lot of shows next year with our booth and this will cost a ton of money. I would like to think that the organisation we support takes the information seriously. Competitors and sponsors pay the bills and the dB Drag Association needs to listen.
When my boss asked me how the show went....I paused and told the truth...he would have liked to hear a more positive reply.

About making publicity for WF and the budget for it ; i am sure that with some calling and some connections in the media world there can be more coverage about WF the weeks - days before it : to announce it to general public . And also the weekend it self . There's no real budget needed for that , media sources enough that sure one - more will do that . ( papers - tv - internet on general intrests )

i liked the town of cleveland but would prefer it be in the downtown center or even better in phiadelphia which is a great location as well. as far as judging when an infraction is presented to a judge and he says we are holding up the show i have a huge problem. I think the judge no names needs not to say vinyl is a factory replacement option to carpet(BS) and loud noise inside the center will make vioce coils read different imp cause of the noise floor(BS) the juding needs to put there foot down and especially if a rule is broken to cheat outright ban the competitor. too be honset Wayne did a great job trying to put on his show but its time to get a new head judge who is fair all the way around and not biased for some competitors and making things unfair for others. Maybe its time to make the Rileys judges for finals events.

The music near the lanes was boring, same stuff being repeated over and over again. Also when people are speaking on the mic this should be turned down so we can hear the people talking.
x1000 That was extremly annoying and even if we did have spectators..they wouldn't be able to understand what was going on with all of the annoying music.

not in the great lakes.
Savannah, GA has a big center right there by downtown. Orlando (orange county convention center is Huge) and is close to disney (can plan the vacation around the finals and bring the whole family).
There are plenty of better places besides the IX center. Okay I'm done complaining about the location.

Please...no
This would be a good side show
A great place to hold finals would be in Atlantic City. The convention center is huge, hotel attached, CASINOs, beach, bars, boardwalk, TT bars, clubs, outlet shopping, airport, etc.

Maybe we need to consider that SPL is not as popular as all want it to be/think it is and it is just not the type of event that people are interested enough in to draw a big crowd. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see finals be a HUGE thing as much as the next guy, but I think the fact of the matter is that people just don't really care about dB Drag, most would rather go watch a drag race or NASCAR event. Too many people just have no interest in watching a vehicle go BURRRRP in a lane and then move on, they can't grasp the concept of SPL and have no desire to. Perahps we need to just accept finals for what it really is... a small (by comparison to others) event for a niche market. If I had my way, I truly would have 20,000 spectators come through and have every big manufacturer on site with displays and demo vehicles and the whole nine. But IMO, the spectators who do come through, are either a) just there to see what dBDRA is all about, or b) non-competing enthusiasts attending to support their friends or just check things out. Neither crowd is really marketable, group A doesn't have the interest in buying the gear that is being promoted and group B does not want to pay full retail, or they already know what they want and aren't really interested in considering something else. Of course there are exceptions, but I think that could be applied to most of the attendees. I would never want to see finals scaled down, but we all have high expectations that I just don't think can be met.

security guards were straight a**holes!!! and there was other instances of cheating not dealt with properly!! like qualifing with 8 amps then going back and adding 8 more, then look up and ray choy catching them, and still didnt dq em!!! he said the rule says if you get caught cheating youll get dq'ed... so what the hell is adding 8 more amps, especially when this competitor had the same problem last year at finals??? ray said he had to run the amps to cheat!! i mean come on!!!! lets see i guess he just wanted to see how pretty 16 amps would have looked!!!!

As competitors what did you do to make a spectator (who you didn't know) enjoy the show to the point they would tell others and want others to come? Did you have your vehicles open? Did you answer questions (truthfully and not outlandish BS)? Did you promote the sport in a positive manner (so that someone is not part of the "in" crowd felt like they belonged)?
You really can't expect spectators to show up and look at a bunch of closed up/covered up vehicles owned by people who don't want you to see what is in the vehicle and won't answer questions about what they are doing.
Without spectators, manufacturers don't care about the sport. Maxxsonics said they spent $17,000.00 on finals. They only reason to do that is to earn back more than $17,000.00 in product sales. Do you think that is even possible? Competitors calling up and asking for free stuff or deeply discounted stuff does not go into that number (especially if those competitors won't even show what products they are using----regardless of the stickers you may put on a vehicle). Also--you don't destroy property--you don't write on the walls of elevators. That just gives off the wrong impression.
For the sport to grow, you have to give spectators a reason to want to come. You get spectators coming, you will get manufacturers showing back up. With those two things, the ranks of competitors will grow. That is when postive things happen.

After reading this I started to think you are probably right, but then I remembered how many people attended SBN this year. I don't have the answer to how to fix it but I have seen many good ideas posted, like this one:
