What I find even funnier is that a lot of guys over here called them cheaters.
Well, until the design came here.

I'm sure something else "original" will pop up eventually. Actually, mine is "different" than the other versions of it. I got the same score with that version, just used mine to be different.
Frankly the reason is, and I'm sure others will agree, we had simply topped out the score the other design was capable of.
Name ONE vehicle over a 72 at last years finals with a "traditional" wall and port? So does everyone stick with that, and get handed their lunch, or do they start working on the other?

We've used a design similar to theirs for atlest 4 years now. Nothing special really, just works really well being able to manipulate the interior in Extreme in conjunction with that design.

Now that I will challenge, and I think Steve will agree. I don't think he ever got past 172ish or a little under with the "standard" type designs....

i dont like the idea of trapping the mic, but it is a totally legal design
Well the Finns have a "W.L.V Mark 2", so yeah there´s a more efficient design then the "W.L.V Mark 1"
In Sinsheim Deathmatch was won by the ext5+ from Team Loud with a 174.1. And after the 5min they did a burp for fun (without charging!!) of 178.3!!!
DD woofers, SPL Dynamics Amps, Optima Batteries, a old Volvo 245, The "W.L.V Mark 2" design and you will have a winner
thnx man i'll start building today

well thats what i mean mike, i know 3db is way way off 175 but it still would have won his class even with a "normal" design

yeah, but he was under 172 with the old design, and Superior was over the 72 mark.
I guess my thing is, mark all the people over 172 at finals. Owens, Jones, Superior, Cook, maybe i missed one. None of them had the traditional, each one was different than the norm. You either have to change to catch up, or get left behind!

I have seen Europe's and America's finest and from my stand point once Mikko solved the problem and came out with his "wiked look" everybody followed it or should I say copied it, I included.
I have done 2 vehicles like that, (with Mikko's advise), and to be quite honest it does create a serious amount of pressure in the driver's side and once you have it built you just have to work with the console because it is what will determine the frequency you will end up playing. Here are my numbers: Extreme 1 169.2 and Extreme 2 171.1; but I also have an Extreme 2 with the woofers on top doing 169.7, prety close to the other two but it took 20 times longer to get to the number. They might not be the world's loudest, but in Puerto Rico those numbers are about 5 dbs above everybody.
The design is very efficient and easy to tune. Also the design offer the advantage of, once you have it worked out, easy upgrades and constant gains in spl.
If you think it is a piece of cake, you're up to a surprise. Check the Leaderboard and look around. There aren't that many competitors over 170, so you better be smart, be ready to squeze your brain and be willing to spend some money in reinforcing your ride. I'm talking about 3 inch plexi windows and a very stiff box, maybee 4 inches thick or even concrete walls. Your ride must be very solid to get to those high numbers, given that you followed Mikko's old ways (nobody has his new stuff in our side of the world).
But, there is always another side in each coin and this one is not the eception.
Mikko's design has become the standart in Extreme vehicles.
Let's see some of our history. In 2003 we had 13 vehicles over 170 and of those 2 had one woofer and 1 had 2 woofers; in 2004 we had 14 cars over 170 and of those 2 had one woofer and 2 had 2 woofers and today we have 19 vehicles over 170 and of those 2 have one woofer and 7 have 2 woofers. It gives us a 36% increase in cars over 170 and a 350% in 2 woofer cars over 170.
Also we have gained almost 4 dbs from last year numbers!
All from the sudden there is a design that does the trick for everyone.
I'm all in for innovation and creativity and that's why I think this has gone to far. Mikko solved it, but now it has become a must to be competitive and almost everybody forgets where it came from. It's funny to see people being so secretive when the formula is writen in the wall in capital letters.
What bothers me is it has became so necesary to be competitive it is eithier you have it or just don't show up at finals.
I will like to see the people being creative and imaginative, to see them getting educated in phisics and dynamics so we can have diferent proposals at finals but for now I know it will be impossible because of the effectivenes of Mikko's design and the generalization of the blind wall.
I'm not whinning or anything like it, just pointing the direction I will like to see the sport go to.

the hardest part about this "sport" though is trying something new, because to try a new design in an extreme car we're talking hundreds or thousands of dollars in equipment, wood, concrete, fiberglass, bondo, kitty hair, mixing buckets, brushes, TIME, lots of stuff that adds up super fast.
i think thats why no one has tried anything new in awhile, its too expensive to try something that you don't know will work
