i just wanted to post up that i had seen that online and when i read it, i thought it was interesting since terry brocks works about 30 minutes from here and so for him to go to finals and use this amp and then be told he may not be, i posted it up. I hope people are not mad about it! thanks

I dont think it was a good call either but what can you do. We are helpless when it comes to what they want to do. What I dont like about it was that Terry has been to so many shows the amp has been out for ever and no one made the call way eirlier. The day before the show?? That to me just isnt right. There were things in extreme that was not with in the rules but they didnt make us change things that they didnt like at the show that was in the gray area. They are waitting to the begenning of the year to change them. For a amp that LOOKS like it 2 of the same boards and the amp that is the 2 same boards is not the same for someone to look at and make a decion on at the last show of the year. Things like this are what is hurting DB Drag. I dont know if it is 1 or 2 amps and I dont care either but dont wait until Finals to tell everyone that they cant run them. Just my 5 cents.LOL

yup, thats kinda what i got from the whole thing. when i spoke to terry about the amp, he said that he never had a problem with the judges before and that he goes to finals and oh no, you can't use that amp, so he wasn't very happy. There are a few other people i know who have quit b/c of the politics and the b-s, or have gone to other organizations. so when will it be enough? I dunno, i'm just a small time guy who loves to get loud, and maybe louder, and watch people with more money be the loudest!! LOL

Wayne just showed them what happens when you don't buy a booth at his world finals and expect your product to win! He was trying to give them NO media time on MTV and ended up giveing them 10x more than they would have had. [Big Grin]

whats funny is that hifonics has been a supporting manufacturer at finals until they switched from api to maxxsonics. i remember seeing them in '00 and '01 at finals.
i think they switched in late '02 or early '03 and had not been back to finals since.
i think the outcome would have been different if they had come this year.

Thats a great point...

Either way, from the looks of this site, this is not something that is going to be resolved. It still stands as "2 amplifiers" currently, yes?

Hello Dieter,

We recommend at least a 2 Gauge cable but for long distances, a 0 gauge is better.

You can remove the protection circuit but of course you will void the warranty.

However, This amp has two 1600-watt amplifiers built in that are stable to 1 Ohm. For “burping” (2-4 seconds) purposes, many competitors drop the impedance to .5 ohms in which case the amp will produce around 3000 watts per channel (2 x 3000 watts).

If you are bridging the amp at 2 Ohms, you can drop the impedance to 1 Ohm for “burping” and the amp will produce around 6000 watts (1 x 6000 watts).

You can do this with our removing the protection circuit.

Best regards,

John

Hello,

I'm from belgium and I'm in to dB-drag racing. I'm very interested in the new Hifonics Colossus Gen XX. I had a few questions about this amp. What size powercable can I connect to it and can I remove the protection against to low impedances? Thanks in advance.

Greetings

if the last post was to me, I was not competing at WF this year nor have I in recent years b/c I haven't been able to get good enough numbers to compete. the reason I speak about terry is b/c when I got there with brian of Team BK, since terry brocks, nathan potter, and paul carmichael are the folks that we see at shows that are held around here, I focused to see what nunbers they would do before getting into other folks that I have just seen pictures on, like superior sound. I am not sure what they drive or what class they are even in, or even what numbers they put up, so in which case, I don't have the slightest idea wether or not they were rebuilding the entire time or not. I heard that the infamous "shaker" has done full rebuilds while i was there, but never saw any really happening. So anyway, thats the only reason I wrote what I did.

I was not involved in this decision. In fact, the reason that I elected to NOT be involved in an officiating capacity during the 2004 season was to preclude accusations such as this.

As for competitors bashing dB Drag Racing on MTV, that is something I am anxiously waiting to see. I personally selected the contestants who would be interviewed and profiled for this documentary based on their attitude and professional demeanor. You can be sure that if derogatory statements are made, I won't steer opportunities in the direction of those competitors in the future.

I believe the officiating was top notch. I am not aware of any decisions that were inappropriate. I do believe that there is opportunity for improvement with regards to competitor relations (between the judges and the competitors) and this is an area that we will work on in the future.

Wayne,I`m glad that you posted on this and going to try to fix these type problems.I know that a lot of the time you might think that Im bashing but Im not I love competing and just speak my mind and try to give a inside that I see and hear alot of people say at shows. Im not downing it or trying to hurt it. Im not saying that we EXTREME didnt have to rebuild somethings. I had to make a change to my console. But it was not legeal so I didnt have a problem with it. But I knew this before I got there not 12 hours before the show. Nor was it done on purpose. The concrete framming moved I guess when we poured it and I didnt catchit before I went. But there was some things in other cars, vans that were in the gray area. We all know how the cars are supose to be built to the rules. I think that if someone knows that its in the Gray area " and there pushing the rules"that the should have to fix it before being aloud to compete. This would save everyone a lot of money, because every year someone dose it wins or sets world records than they change it. That amp was in the gray area and was not aloud. Some say its legal some say it isnt it should have been decided along time ago one way or the other. This would keep alot of people from getting upset or not wantting to come back to world finals.
