more local companys might be interested in participating at the "regional finals drop offs" more people would attend these world finals' as well. this way people won't be spending 300 for a ticket, bunch of money for hotel, and what not. as for the big gala event thing, yes that would be something i can not say anything to counteract, but the way things are going, there won't be a big gala event to begin with...

I understand what you are saying but no matter where you move it to someone is going to have to drive futher than others. Why not try to hold it more toward the center of the states that will kind make it even for all the outer states. Will have about the same drive this might help.

The amplifier dimension concept was discussed last year. (It would be appreciated if one of the mods would find this particular thread.) One of the arguments against amp size was that some of the "cheap" amps are in very large heatsinks to give an appearance of value. We can re-evaluate this issue for 2005.

We all agree that the entry level classes are the most important segment of dB Drag Racing with regards to future growth and success. I believe that veteran competitors will continue to enter our entry level classes as long as those classes are offered at the World Finals. The only solution is to come up with some classes that will not count towards the World Finals invitations.
We must also address "Teams" and "Points Chaser" vehicles.
Finally, we must have more contestants at the Finals. We cannot have a World Finals with only 100 vehicles. There are serious financial realities that must be taken into account. Especially when 1st-8th place trophies are given out in 13 classes. We need to get the number of contestants up into the 300+ range. I think we need to seriously address the points requirement / certified score requirement for a World Finals invitation.
i suggest moving finals to a more central location, or perhaps this could be the year where we could have regional world finals at the same time and have everyone compete in the area's prospective judges termlabs against each other in multiple locations? this might not yet be a reality, but here is my arguement anyways...
west coast has driven more than anyone else has in the US to finals, be nice to have a fair share. keep in mind we leave on tuesday night before finals and do not get back until tuesday(sometimes wednesday). that is over 1 week of work lost for most of us. most of the west coasters do not care about world finals, because this makes it not a reality for them. they can not make a 4500 mile round trip with their vehicle, take that much time off work, and pay this much money in gas, finals fees, hotel, etc.
more cars on the west coast than anywhere else in the US, especially in the socal area. if you want dbdrag to continue, you need to tap into this population. you did once, and at 1 time you had quite a following out here, hell a certain team at one time had over 17 vehicles that did go to finals.
new york area is almost in the same situation.
Now that would be absolutely the coolest thing. To have regionals competing against people in different states. But yeah, changing the place of finals would be nice as well

This can be directly attributed to the cost involved by the retailer to even host 1x events. This is why we switched formats this year, and without directly speaking for other NNY shops, why the dB Drag format was not supported locally this year. The simply fact of the matter is that there would have been alot more events if the cost would have even been reasonable to the retailers, which just gets passed to the competitors through a massive decrease or no shows in that area. The dBDRA is truly where the giants in the industry play and is a hard pill to swallow for the retailers and competitors that want to support the format, but choose not to because of cost or lack of participation. As for events being a promotional tool I'm sure that they are...in certain areas. One thing to remember is that each individual regional is different, whether they require specific needs, or lack of support. That is something that needs to be addressed by the dBDRA directly. If memory serves me correctly, the reason that the dBDRA appointed all retailers to have events run by actual dBDRA officials were some "inconsistencies" in officiating and points issues. I'm sure that you'll find that none of our events, or other events in NNY were run with any "inconsistancies" as other alleged areas. My question then is why weren't the isolated instances that occured taken care of on an individual basis instead of everyone being punished for others dishonesty. Honestly, if the event hosting would have stayed like it was in '03, regardless to rule changes, we would have remained a dB Drag retailer doing another 6 shows in NNY, which I'm sure would have been greatly appreciated.

I just didnt see a lot of spectators for Nashville mabe it should be moved. More spectators would make up for the low number of attendance. Also the bad weather that we had this year hurt a lot of people not just in lower Flordia but everywhere. I dont like the Idea of a bunch of little world finals but centering it in the states I belive would help and might get the attendance up and bring more spectators to this sport.

the problem with a different location is there are limited locations a world finals can be held... wayne does not world finals held at some of these locations... at the same time, people from florida/ northeasterners, and other people who are ALOT closer than us to world finals do not want it moved because "they don't want to drive further"... so we will get the short end of a stick again... west coast is used to it...

It also brings up the question, how are we sure that judging will be consistent(answer: it won't be). The only way to make it consistent is to hold all events on an airfield where wayne can fly around and judge all of the cars personally

vegas would get more people into it iggy. EVERY company on the west coast would be there. Most companies would rather be in vegas than anywhere else if they are putting money in to do a show. more people in vegas attend big world finals type conventions. i mentioned cheaper flights, cheaper hotels, better parties. no one can argue vegas isn't the best place for world finals. only thing that can be argued is that "its far to drive". and again, we (on the west coast) have been making that drive, so the people that say its too far, do not know, because they have not made that drive. jarfunkz rule number one, dislike what you know, disliking what you don't know is ignorant.
the whole thing is getting this sport more popular, what is more popular than vegas? name a place that would be better for dbdrag than vegas? name a place that will get more exposure for dbdrag than vegas... you can't, there is none.

Problem I see is there is nothing in this for the cars that are expensive to build... the street classes did their part in bringing in people. The Extreme and Super Street classes have nothing to look forward to except for a 8 ft trophy and some pride. If you could make some sort of purse at DB Drag world finals and give people something to shoot for all season it would probally bring people out of the woodwork. If it cost someone a 2nd mortgage on their home to build a car and they see all they can get is an 8ft trophy well I guess I wouldn't see the point. Most of the cars I saw in Super Street were all sponsored cars or cars owned by shops. I for one wouldn't mind paying an extra $10-$15 entry fee per show that goes into a kiddy for a World Finals pot.

What about booking Bartle Hall in KC the week prior to USACI world finals. The vendors could save money by setting up for two world finals in one punch, that in turn should definetly bring more money!! The hall might be cheaper for both organizations if booked for a weak straight. A lot of people that do DBDrag also do usaci. It should be cheaper to stay for a week than to travel that far twice those that do and most anybody that has been on the job for a year has a week of vacation time. It would be more central of a location. Attendance could benefit by joint advertising in KC area for both events basically a week of booming. Ive tossed this out there now pick it apart as you may. Or chime in preferably.

i thought that was suppoesed to be part of the reasoning behind autoshow proffesionals. to create prize money and cover operating expenses for dbDrag???

I made a post yeserday about paying 5.00 more for entry and giving 1-8 in all classes money. My theroy was 5.00 more for entry and having Wayne post the anount once a month so everybody would have something to shoot for. Street classes would get some and the higher the class the more. But keep it pretty even across the board. trophies would be the same as thiis year and have nothing to do with the prize money. But it got picked apart by everyone so I deleted it.

Vegas is a real good idea. Lots of spectators. Of course people would have to drive but there would be more coverage. Then again this is world finals and we need to consider the people flying in from oversea's and how easy it would be for them to get there car to anyplace that we go.

I think it would go a LONG way if Sam Horn's format was looked at for entry level classes without finals invites. There is a level of crowd and competitor participation that is unmatched. I tried this last season and there was an actual rush, something I have not experienced since about my second show. It was good to get that feeling back!

it might be a little easier... you can go through LA's port, bam 400 miles from there. hotels= cheaper, flights=cheaper, better TnA bars, everything about vegas is better than tennessee, there is absolutely no denying that.

Someone to spend 500 Dollars on props ? Dont get me wrong I lose very well, but when you have built a flawless vehicle and you lose WTF ? I can understand Dave not wanting me to quilfy last, but **** I guess next year I will really put on a show ! If there is a next year ! You know if it wasnt for people like Tom from Ohio Generator, Kyle from Rockford, and Tim Phillips my van wouldnt have been to finals, plus dont forget the guys who helped me for a month straight wheather it was for 5 mins or 20 hours a day, you put something together like this with hard work, with blood sweat and tears, it seems like it was all a wast of time and money, when the van looked great I just need to buy some props, i guess best of show has a different meaning now !

I have mentioned in years past about the Tulsa Expo center. This building would be perfect and centrally located, but no one has ever looked into it except me. The problem of parking would be totally solved, the problems of loading and unloading would be eliminated, and Tulsa Oklahoma is a really fun town. Maybe someone needs to look into this again.
