There is going to be a competition between the top vehicles to see who can maintain the highest overall average spl over a five minute timeframe. You want to talk about finding out who makes the most durable equipment!!!!!!! And who has the most durable install!!!!

Hrm......that could get expensive if things start to go pop.......kinda like those football games *knees still hurt!!*
Interesting concept though That might actually benefit the guys who can maintain the 140s - low 150s, not sure how many 160+ vehicles can keep at that level, it'll be quite a show though

Does this mean that you can only do it if you break a certain dB barrior? That isn't cool. After all, look at what happened when they had to hold it for thirty seconds! The numbers became much more realistic!!!! If someone does 170 in this format, I think that I will retire and follow them around worshipping them for all eternity!!! I hope that the only thing that decides who enters is who is brave enough to enter. If it really is going to exist.

Hmm that sound like enduro. When Team Gates was with PPI...PPI insisted that they run the bronco through. Well the bronco is not close to set up for that. The did very good but cause they had 700 to subs that are not rated for half they they did smoke a few amps and subs. They know going into this that they would not last. Retail they blew like 20K in stuff. PPI got their trophy but at a LARGE cost. This was the only time the Bronco EVER blew anything up durning a comp and they new going into it they would.
Also I dont think the enduro was for 5 mins I forget..

That's an interesting concept. Betcha not too many spl vehicles could boom that long without meltdown. I wonder if engines will be running. I could see many batteries not lasting long enough at max current draw to finish the thing. Unregulated power supplies hate low voltage, so, many many many smoked amps. I couldn't see many subs making it that long either, getting max power from the amps would tend to overheat the voicecoils, causing insulation to melt away and coils to short. I could see someone with a ton of subs making it through, though you'd need voicecoil temperature gauges and a way to switch between multiple pairs of subs, this way, when coils got hot, they could be switched off. Better yet, liquid cooled voice coils should be able to survive. I dont think that at max volume though, too many spl systems could survive.....

My Money is on Mike Barfield too. He can play his system at 160 for a long time and the subs don't even get hot! The man is smart, that is all I will say.
