When I won the final round at Soundquake. I decide to do ademo and the judges gave me autorization. I started to play my vehicle when suddenly a guy came to the vehicle and opened the passenger's front door causing the unloading of the woofers. It caused severe dammage to the sorround of 3 woofers. I just want to know if there is any rule that ensures a safe area for the competitors. I don't know who he was, but he was not part of the staff. Also when he opened the door he left the place very quickly, like knowing what he just did. I believe there should be some kind of protection for the competitors and if something like that hapens it should be the organizer's responsability to cover the damages. I'm lucky DD hasn't charged me for the woofers, but imagine if they were mine. Bye, bye competition season.
After all, we're paying to get registered. The least we deserve is a safe area to compete.

I believe that I would have sat that guy in the car and burped it till he puked.
Actually in that case, I believe that you should have taken his name and info....
then pursued legal action through his car insurance company. I have heard of this before.
If I was you, I would put latches on the doors.
It is good that DD is good to you, they are kind of "stiff" on certain things.
I look forward to showing everyone what DD can do, REAL SOON.

The judges permited it, I mean the demo, because I never told nobody to open any door, and I even told the judges in the exact moment it hapened. Sorry to tell you this way, but I made a great effort to get there, just to see how anybody could get into he lanes and do what ever they wanted. I just want to see a ruling made about what should be done if something like that happens in the future and who should be responsible.
Great that you show who you really are. There were plenity of witnesses. I'm not talking just as a competitor, but as a fellow show promoter.
I never let anybody to the lanes that is not with the vehicle. I knew who the judges were. They knew what I was doing. It was the last run of the day. They allowed it and even were watching closely. I'm not as dumb to tell somebody to unload my woofers. You said you were going to do somethig and I left without any answer. Maybee you didn't asked him because he's local and I don't. But guess what, it is your duty to insure every competitor a safe enviroment, no matter from where they are, after all we all paid in US$. We play our vehicles because we think is safe. If we get a trophy is because we earned it, they are not gifts.
Sorry, but you and I know what happened. At least being a kid I learned to be responsible for my acts, and to talk or remain in silence when needed.

It's really sad that people cannot seem to keep their hands to themselves. I understand what you mean by safety. At our show this holiday weekend I had people opening my van (some during a short rain!)and that really bothers me. We ran the show but were far too busy to babysit the spectators closely enough. Here is a bit of advise to competitors and spectators:

* Keep your dirty paws off!
it's not your vehicle so look but don't touch.

* Stay out of the competitors lanes!
anyone not directly affiliated with the competitor should stay behind the lines and out of the way of the competitor.

If you act like an idiot and mess with peoples pride and joy you can expect someone to take legal action or just plain kick your @$$.

Treat every vehicle and competitor with respect and everyone will be happy. If you ask politely nearly every competitor will be happy to show you their vehicle.

Gotta believe Carlos on this one. No one in their right mind would tell somebody to go ahead and open his door(s) if it would damage his equipment. This was an unfortunate occurrence, but what is more unfortunate is that Soundquake2 replied to Carlos post the way he did. Kind of discouraging!

carlos if you remeber right i told you that i would look into it the guy had left the show and i couldnt find him , i told you that when i did find him i would get his side of the story.know if you remeber right again noone was aloud to be in the lanes, unless they where with a car.now why would my judges say you can sit in the lanes and demo your car, because you know yourself that the cops where shuting us down because i personally told you to turn it down earlier, then you where trying to pull another stunt and driving around in circles in the middle of the street and i had to stop you there too.now if you want we can talk about make it right for you but it wont be over the forum

Soundquake2...not to be invading into yours and Carlos business, but didn't you say in your post that you had talked to the individual and he said Carlos had given him permission? In your most recent post you say that he had left the show and you couldn't find him. That is very unfortunate! I wasn't there and I don't know what happened but it seems kind of strange.

Well, I think we should be carefully about who get to run competitions. I never expected the answers I'm getting because I do run shows and I care about the rules. Now I understand the anger in some posts I have read, it's like anybody can buy a computer pay the fees and run a show.
Sorry for expecting too much.

Like I said I wasn't there and I'm not making any accusations, don't take it personally. Thank you for the clarification though ! If there was a rules violation it should have been addressed at the time of the event though and not now, after the fact. Please don't take anything I have said personally. If I have offended anybody, please feel free to e-mail me and tell me to shut my mouth !

Trust you?
After all you have said?
That's an easy one.
At least nobody told you a used nitrogen to cool the cabin.
Anyway,I have the pictures to prove you are a liar.
I have the witnesses to prove it too, about all you have said.
I have the record in my favor.
What will be next? That you heard I entered illegally to the states? I borned a citizen. That I was not the owner of the van and they protested it? To the date, I have autorization from Wayne.
That there was no box for the woofers? Don't need one to compete.
Man, forget about it. Keep doing whatever you want.
I'm greatly dissapointed with you.

I've had my experience with people
running the show that:
A) Should NOT be running a show.
B) Did not know the rules
C) Did not enforce the same rules on everyone

etc. etc. etc. (Audio King shows SUCK)

I think that we should be able to petition
for certain hosts to NOT be able to run
another dB Drag event. I know I've got
witnesses from my shows that would back
me up on the fact that these people ran
an awful show...

What do you all think about this???
Wayne--what can we do?

ugh i said i would never post anything here ever again but i will have to eat my words on this i was at the Rose Bowl for the Car audio portion of it i would just like to add my thoughts about the show.

1

the sound q portion had little turn out

SPL was huge

2

the way the show was setup as a whole was POOR.

A
there was a 6-7foot high chain fence blocking off the lanes(which is good but there were no stands to sit in)
b
no one at the front box office even knew of a car audio show
c
where the people who competed and parked was in the way back corner it was even hard to find them where there at there was little to no foot traffic and it was some what like a sound q event where the doors were all shut and locked up damn it looked like a parking lot
d

the displays for the DB drag scores were small and hard to see

about the Carlos thing i am not sure all what happen but i can say this his box was behind the door jams and there was nothing in his van that was grey area and even if his box was past the door jams and someone protested it WAS HIS(toms) job to pull out a string and run it down so it was his(toms) fault for not following through with the rules either way i do think Tom should at least tell carolos he is sorry after all carlos spends a great deal of time and money to compete here in the US and this not being a finals event i was shocked to see him out this way Carlos if tom wont say it i will say it i am sorry for what has happen to you at the rose bowl and i hope to see you at finals

David

PS

i think even if tom says he is sorry it is way way to late and would not mean a thing

well first we were going to have stands for everyone to sit but we found out on saturday afternoon for the main promotor for the import nationals that the stands will not be there,so what are we suppose to do stop the show because we didnt have stands.if any of you are from cali you will no that any compitions down here are lacking ,so we were going to start the soundquake series back up but with this kind of negative rections y should we go threw the head aches and lose our weekends .sound q is very low in cali and we are just trying to get the people back into car audio and have fun again ,but like i said befroe i dont think it will happen now.this will be my last quote on this subject p.s i hope we dont have to stop this series becuase we had something doing pretty big a few years ago and it took me two years just to get to start it again well thanx again and i wont be putting this much more work into cali again Tom Orozco
