I like the head to head competition also, but I don't like it when one lane is obviously 6db's lower than the other lane, and nothing is done to correct it.
Most of the comps I have been to have be awesome. I mean checking out others installs, hanging with forum members and fellow compeditors...
One thing that has to addressed is the use of Pro Equipment, and Pro Installers in Street Class. Pro's have no right to be in the beginner class, along with products like Zapco 4k watt amps.

1. Head to Head competition. 2. The fact that you can travel to any given state[or country] on vacation or visiting family, and hit a Db Drag event in the process.

i got into db drags 3 years ago it was a blast. going to all the shows meeting and talking to everyone.the shows were fun.now it seams like there is more whinning and complaining going on at the shows that it takes most of the fun out of it.it seems that everydody pushes the rules to the limit and over.the rules need to be spelled out in laymens terms so they are easier to understand.i think that way they are less subject to 100 poeples interpitation.because we all know that everybody reads one thing and builds another.more specific rules will make it easier on the competitor, the judges, and the people running the shows. WE NEED TO GET THE FUN BACK.

I really like the head to head competition as well as the people you meetand checking out the different setups competitors have. What needs improved IMO is the street classes so we don't lose the newbies. Most of my customers would be in the street class, but won't attend shows because they know they won't have a chance of winning.

Shows very slow. I have a hard time finding out when the shows start. They appear to drag on all day long. This is tuff in the hot Texas sun. My responiblities don't allow me to time to stay all day to compete for a few runs. My kids are scared off by the overkill cars. They are audio freaks but won't even look twice at this cars. Their daily drivers are no way like this. These kids would be more interested in a small contest. Have multiple drags for the beginers. Set aside a small area to let them come and run. Let them see who it is done. Run a contest with just them and there buddies and collect a fee. Let them run again when ever they want. The could be given suggestions by the pros and let rerun.
DON'T SCARE THEM!!!
They are the bread and butter of the industry. My kids want to be metered, to show there daily drive blows away there freinds. But they work, most kids work on the weekend and can't spend 8 hours at a show that they know they will get beat at.
A show were the next 8 guys run would be great. Let the winner stay in for free if he wants to compete with the next 7 they pay. This would spark much interest with the newcomers.
Newcomers want something quick, cheap, fun, and most of all not embrassing.

WOW...I could go on and on, but some of MY favorite "Highlights" if you will;
Meeting and competing with some really great people and getting to know them better throughout the season, watching peoples reaction to what 2 12s can really do, having people ask questions and trying to answer them! (Hey; Ian...this guy has a question!), meeting people like Sam Horn, Chris Norris, "Shocker" Mike and all of the Shocker "Family", Ben and Christine (Dorf), John and Kara, Mike Steirs (and his wife and daughter), Alma, OKIE, Wayne and all of the others who share the enthusiasm that I have, (or is that sickness lol!) and especially, being able to spend time with Ian and seeing where we were, where we are now and knowing how much fun we will have next season.
I also have a blast seeing my son Ian HELP so many other competitors, from 1st time participants to some of you with Extreme vehicles and giving 110% and not asking or expecting anything in return.
I Thank You, Wayne, for putting together this thing we call dB Drags...I LOVE IT!
As far as complaints, well, you aren't going to get any from me right now. The classes are basically fine, the competition is great and overall, I am pretty damn satisfied with my first years experiance.

#1.Head to Head(that thrill of waiting for the timer to go off is awesome) #2.Meeting new ppl(some of the ppl I've met I hope to remain friends with forever) #3.Learning from these ppl(think they have forgotten more then I'll ever learn) #4.Getting to see all the awesome vehicles #5. Getting away from the wife for a few hours(if anyone tells her I said this I'll Kill ya)
What I don't like about DBDrag
#1.Driving to a comp and the mics not working.(and I don't mean reading high or low.I mean NOT working) #2.Disorganized comps(ppl running the shows and don't even know the rules..or using last yrs rule books) Basiclly just using the comp as a place where ppl could metter there vehicles. #3.Rules changing(enough said) #4.Pro's basiclly running against AM's in every class. (Not many ppl can afford 64 amps and $5000 subs, or $4000 amps etc.). #5.PPl covering up there vehicles. #6.No trophies(went to several shows and heard several newbies say this .."I don't even win a trophy") #7.The price to compete is getting higher and higher #8.More time actually focused on the competitors as they compete rather then turning the music up so loud on the PA system you can't hear the MC talking about the competitors and what they are running and hitting....Not everyone can see the scores or the vehicles as they run.. #9. Shows taking wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to long to run....(starting late and taking 4+ more hours then should).Might goto more out of town shows if i knew they would end at a reasonable hour giving me enough time to drive home and back to work next day.

Meeting new people and making new friends.I like seeing the latest in car audio and how it performs in the real world(Didn't see one single MTX RFL being used out here).
I don't care for all the bickering over classes and hope a solid format comes out for 2002 regarding what type of vehicle can be in Street and where the enclosure can be placed.
We love to see woofers gettin' smoked!
What ever happened to the,"Radio toss" during the break at some shows? Having something to do while the Judges bracket you and get some lunch is cool.

I like db drag because as a father of a 15 year old son, iasca was to expensive and there was no shows nearby (western ny) I used to compete regularly in iasca but db drag allows me to go to a lot of shows and build a system for under 5g's competitivly, also it is fun to have somthing that I love and can get my son involved with to.
THANK YOU WAYNE

1. it cost too much to enter a show 2. it cost too much to enter a show 3. did i say it cost to much to enter a show?
Besides that the whole thing is fun and interesting to participate in, however, b/c the ever rising fees i tend to stick to PLC more offten than DB DRAG.
