I like the head to head competition style. It's fun to go right up against someone. Db Drag is a lot more fun than IDBL because in IDBL you just go once and then everyone has to beat that score, but in Db Drag you go up against your competition in a head to head match.

i like the fairness of db drag. at finals, i thought that there was a problem that needed fixed but it went untouched. head to head is nice, but if the mics are noticably off you need to fix the problem.

i personally would like to see pros and am.s combined.

the thing that needs to be addressed it the amp power rating system. no rating will be ever fair. thats why im for pro vs am. in woofer classes.

Moneybag and I agree with Devastator. The best part of dB Drag is the head to head competition. It gets your adrenaline flowing when you have a close match.

One of the best things about db Drag is the personalities that represent it. Alma has done more for car audio than anyone else I can think of due to her desire to always get new people in and have fun. Then you have guys like Steve Cotton, Team Hertz, Ray and Jimmy(Thunder)and numerous others that make db Drag so much fun to watch. My favorite people are people who like to teach others and help them out with questions. These people are the reason db Drag is enjoyng so much success. If everyone still covered up their cars and was secretive and evasive, Drag would be nowhere. Even one of my personal car audio Gods, Richard Clark, makes a spectacle like nothing ever seen with the 6 foot woofer(Finally got to see it in action )
I like the vehicles also. Many of the cars look like crap, but I'm speaking about the Gates Bronco, Tim Maynor's Terminator, and all the incredible vehicles that not only done it louder, but also done it looking good at the same time. These are something else that got me hooked. Cecil Griffin also stands out in my mind, because at the Finals this year, he had a built interior that was simple, but VERY nice looking, just by the use of some fiberglass and paint. And he was proud of it, talking to everyone and showing his car proudly. I by no means am slighting the people with MDF cars that have worked so that hard on them, I am just pointing out the cars with a little extra work on appearance are part of the draw for the spectators. Mine will probably be ugly when I first build it too, if I go that route.
The head to head thing is great too. You never know when you think someone is beat and all of a sudden at the last second, they let out with a round winning burp!

The head to head battles, the friends that you meet, talking to people about how to get more out of a sub, also showing off all the hard work and seeing the hard work people put in to there systems

As for dislikes places saying that it is a dB drag points show and it is not thats about it

I love the comradary and friends you make and meet at events. People with similar interests that you may never have met otherwise.

I dislike the whiners that only wish to win, and ruin the fun for others at events. FUN is just what it is supposed to be about.

Well this is comming from someone that is not a compeating member of Db Drag due to no system but plans on joining this year and having some fun just for the hell of it. I am by no means going to the slighest threat in the Db Drag SPL world. But the part I like is the fact it is so damn fun. Going up against someone head to head. Even if I know I am going to get beat and beat bad it gets my blood flowing. I love it. I love the fact I get to meet some of the greatest and crazyest people. Like Alma, Danny B., Chile and Team Pure Sound, Shaker, Wayne. Also I got a chance to take to Jay Lovelace. He seemd like a pretty cool. After all the stuff last year he kept compeating with lower scores and did so all year and came back at finals to post a 170 and a record. HE deserves it. Congrats Jay and all the others.

What I dont like. There is a problems with the rules. Is it waynes fault? No. At local shows something needs to be done to assure those that are compeating a fair shake and no cheating. It happens it is a fact. People are people and some will do it. I also do think that classes need some type of revision. I am not exactly sure how. But I feel that there should be a class for those that are just starting out in it and cant take what might be the only car and make it a MDF monster or trailer queen. Those that are in High School or college. You all know what I mean.

Over all I had alot of fun with the few Db Drag show I did attend this year. Jarrad in Matton ILL puts on a hell of a show. You all should come to one. Anyways Have a Good Day..

I like it for all the reasons stated above, and then some. it gives me something to strive for. I love blowing someones doors off at a light when they pull up with there little radio's playing at full distortion

I don't feel I have enough experience in db drag to have encountered anything that gets under my skin. the comps around here are ran quite well, and I enjoy going to them.

You want to know what I love about dB drag racing? I was getting kicked out of a show because I compete for Metro Audio Dynamics, a show I had paid to enter. And while the owner of this store, I won't mention names, because I would hate to see the owner lose any business over it...4TEC.....bless me. anyway, while this was happeneing I got surrounded by every other team at the show, Stereo west, J&M, and who ever else. They were willing to stand up for me even though they had nothing to gain from it. that is what I love about dB drag racing.

What I hate is no stock and modified classes, that is it, keep the classes how they arer now, but have stock and modified. When I say modified, I mean past the door jambs.

Well, I am a confessed BASS-AHOLIC. I can't get enough. I love going to shows, meeting people and seeing what people change from show to show to get gains! The head to head format is great. The change to woofer classes last year was way cool (wish that was how it was back in the old days when I could compete)!

As for dislikes, I hate the way people try to get others DQ'd so they can win! (Guess that one will never change) I HATE MDF TRANSPORTS!!! I HATE POWER CLASSES! And I HATE THE BURP SYNDROME that has overcome dB Drag Racing!

I used to like driving my van to shows. Now I can't drive it to the supermarket. I like going to other shops and duking it out with whatever monster db dragster they cook up. Win OR lose.

I dislike people. Dont get me wrong, 99% of you all are great, but that 1% is always there, ready to backtalk, sabotage (spelling), and do anything in their power to get you dq'd so they can take a trophy.

I guess we'll never be able to weed out that 1% now will we.

What do i like most about db drag? I like how fun it is, the day this sport isnt fun to me anymore is the day i pack my bags and walk away from it. I feel a lot of people are with me on this one. To keep it fun you need to make it as fair to win as possible for EVERYONE. Putting people with simple walls against people like john henry isn't fair, there are people that want a normal street pounder w/o having to destroy their car. Mine is a daily driver, i enjoy driving it to competitions, and jamming all the way there. When i can't do that anymore, its going to all end.

What do i hate? I hate how serious everyone is taking it...cheating to win, etc.

i'll tell you what i like. i lied going to my first ever drag and losing by 15 DB in the first round. i didn't care, i knew i'd lose, but it was fun anyhow. i had a very cheap system that i threw together to give competing a try. i liked talking to the guy that beat me and hearing him say "i was doing less than that a few years back, so dont worry about losing. As long as you compete, it doesnt matter." that attitude is so cool. and the vast majority of people i've met have that.
What i dont like is corrupt shows. thats no putting it too strongly, thats honest. i dont like judges allowing cheating when they fully know it's happening, and i dont like judges picking on someone else about anythihg they can just because they're not buddies. Something else i notice at a lot of shows: cars in the lot of spectators, who have systems loud as most of the people competing. why are people afraid to step up to the mic? Well, in my opinion that has a lot to do with what i stated above about corrupt shows.

YEs, i have seen benny at a comp, he has helped out me and thor several times, he is a totally different person, he has fun at them, knows he is a part of it all. I wish everyone was like that, not greedy as most people seem or act. thats in my own eyes, so please don't flare me for that comment.

I like it when db Drags are run with a SQ event, because it gives me something to do (watch) in the afternoon before the trophies are given out.

I DON'T like how local promotors get to pick and choose their rules (# of woofers, wattage, whatever). Agreed, the classes need to be simpler and easier to administer, but this is nuts.

I love the head to head competition. It is awesome. The thing that needs to be changed...is the difference in mics from lane to lane. However they have to do it, there needs to be a way to make them read the same. I have had the advantage of picking lanes at my last couple of events....because of my score....but I have also not been able to pick lanes because of my score. It can make or break you if the scores are close......as you probably already know. My only other complaint, is that most of the shows I go to, I bring people who are new to the sport and trying understand. At about every event, they leave telling me to quit or by an extra car just for comps...(you know the whole mdf thing). These are your every day joe smoes.

I am happy to see classes based on mods. In my opinion that "superstock" class will totally bring tons of people into the sport.

By the way...your approach to solving these very issues, is absolutely awesome!!!!! Hope you have time left for your family though!

I like DB Drag Racing for the head to head style. It's a lot more fun than IDBL.

The thing I don't like is the fact that there are no stock interior classes. IDBL just changed rules to this, and I like it--other than the fact that they tossed anyone with more than 721 sq in of cone area in with the partially wooden interiors! (which happens to include me)I've prided myself on the fact that I drive my Jimmy everyday, and it has a stock interior. Just because I have more cone area than others, means I get lumped in with the wooden trailer queens?! Thanks! I have nothing against the wooden interiors, I have to admit there is a manly primal feeling about them. They also put up big #'s.... I just think that they are missing the whole point of a "Car Stereo System". To each his own though!

All I ask is that if you DO change to stock and modified classes, keep the woofer classes the same.

Sorry to vent on you all! Thanx for the place to do it and be heard!

I like the head to head excitement, and the great people I get to meet. I like the competitor involvement (who else would let us have a hand in making new rules). I like the fact that you could quite easily see yourself or one of your friends in just about any car audio mag that you pick up.

Things that I would do to improve dB Drag:
I would add more attractions like scream offs or creative activities involving sound or audio. Do something to get the spectators more involved.

to thunder-n-lights, to answer your question about the some of the spectators in the lot having systems sometime better then the ones in the show. ive never competed, but have attended a couple of the shows that were local. my hesitation is not knowing much about compatition to begin with and secondly, i dont have anything special in my car. everything inside is all stock.everything that i have and have done was done by myself, including kicks, boxes,etc...,so it doesnt look the profesionaly installed and i dont want to enter a show and get critisism for what i have.im proud of what i have learned so far and will get better at it in the future. if classes are made to help ama without modifications next year i will probally enter regardless. this is just my outake on it.

hey craiga63--thats exactly how i felt before i finially just tried it one day. I install and build 100% of my system myself too. it's nothing special, and i haven't done all that well. i just tried it a few times to get the feel for competing, now i'm getting bigger and better stuff for next year. I wont be able to compete very often, as i also race cars, but i hope to hit about 5-8 shows next year, and i think i'll do ok. i wont win, but thats ok.
