btw. you guys fail to see outside US again, when it comes to that Street amp issue. For example, we don't have any of those Zapcos here, yet we have top cars in Street, for example 2002 World Record Holder in Street 1-2. He has Orion XTRPRO2400. Street 3-4 also has the record here (don't know if it's updated yet after the Nordic Finals) and he is using two 200DHC's. Also the second, third and so on does not have 4kW's.

Street 1 is bad idea. It won't be cheap and it won't be easy for beginners.

There is Mini Street for real beginners.

It will be less $$ by the cost of one sub.....i know that is not very much but remember there are so many people that fall into the street class that this would benifit the DB Drag alot.....at every comp i have gone to there have been a few people with only one sub in a street type install.....the only choice they have had is go into ministreet or go against people with 2 subs....alot of them are diehard competitors but for what ever reason they just cant spare or dont have the room for 2 subs.....one guy hitts 150 - 151db all the time with one sub...and much lower with two subs....and i know of at least two others on the local level pulling high 140s with less that 1000wts and one sub.....now that is just the locals in my small town....when i went to Audiothunder last march i met 4 or 5 guys who did not enter street because they did not think they had any chance with only one sub........i for one ran the better part of '01 with only one 12.....there will be alot more interest in a 1 sub street class that you think....most of the seasoned competitors will stay in 2 or 3-4...yes i know a few will go for the one sub class but that will still thin the m out per say..leaving more of the 2nd and 3rds at the 1x and even some of the 2x events for newbies.........IMO there are more benifits to this that there are problems with it....

Sound Decision S3-4 used 2-bd1500 did a 157.9 then we used 2-MMatsD300 at finals 159.1 those amps you can buy for 1,300 aech, or less which is a great price to spend in street class....We would of loved to use 2 Zappco 4-K but how can you afford 8,000 on two amps..We also know that with those amps we would of gaind around 1.5dB..... Let;s make a class were you use the same AMP but you choose your woofers and veichle and let the install decide the winner not the power.........

as I see S 1:

beginners usually do 130-140, people with some knowledge and with proper boxes can do 140-150, people with a lot of knowledge and some testing can do over 150 with one cheap sub and amp, people with expensive sub and amp can be competitive in S1-2, they might not be world champions, but they can beat almost all others in S 1-2

So in my opinion more concerne should be in Mini street for real beginners. And minimal class should stay S 1-2.

But I would like to se E1, since it is a lot cheaper than E1-2.

I take the bet. I don't believe we will see lot's of 8 coil woofers any time soon. So still most of the 1 woofer and 2 woofer competitors are and will be using duals or quads. Top cars are with quads (there can be some exceptions somewhere) and 8 amps per woofer. So in E1-2 they have 16 amps. In E1 that would not be the case and it would be max of 8 amps, and 4 amps in many cases.

You have a lot more sponsoring and all going on in the States, but in Europe almost everyone buys their equipments theirselves and usually the equipments are even slightly more expensive. So having 2 top woofers that costs for example 1000 $/€ piece and 16 amps that costs for example 500 $/$ per piece makes quite a lot of money and making that half would count.

And even if we don't just talk about money, the 1 woofer class would be damn interesting and more importantly something that lot's of people wants, like I have said million times before.

Well, I think I have tried to push Extreme 1 enough now. If and when it doesn't happen, that'll be it. We just do what we see the best for the sport here.

But you can get the same power to one 12 you can to two....just get a pair of slavable amps...like the Concept 2400a.....you could have up to 16000wts on a quad and 8000wts to a dvc.....not to mention the Autotek 5000wt amp....that would be 20k to a quad......yes it would be nice to see an EX 1...as well as SS 1 but over all it would benifit Street class 100% more.......between stteeet 1-2 and 3-4 there are almost 3x the members as in EX as a whole.....and that is not counting the hundreds of people who dont get a membership......You can not deny the fact that street is the largest of all classes but letts the fewest go to finals....

-no quad coils
-No walls in any street class
-No 18's in any street class
-15's ARE LEGAL (IMO it is a streetable sub)
-All 12 volt systems
-stock Alts
-NO cargo vans (people shouldnt street a cargo van)
-passenger vans can have enclosure directly behind the door jambs in STREET C ONLY
-NO cut throughs for trucks (destroying a car is not street)
-1/8" max sound deadener
-stock interior
-MAY remove seats in street C

(street 1-2 equiv)
Street A (0-235)-one amp with one mono output or one bridged output with one power supply (in other words no 4 KW's)-one battery stock loc.
3-10's
2-12's
1-15

(street 3-4 equiv)
Street B (236-471)-two amps with one mono output or one bridged output per amp with one power supply per amp(in other words no 4 KW's)-3 batteries total
6-10's
4-12's
2-15's

(SS NW lite equiv)
Street C (472-708)-four amps with one mono output or one bridged output per amp with one power supply per amp(in other words no 4 KW's)-5 batteries total
8-10's
6-12's
4-15's

I think that the street C class would be really interesting, and I know that there are alot of people out there who would love a large multiple sub street class.

Phil LEster

just figured that I would repost this because I saw a few people liking the "big street class" idea.

EX class is what draws a crowd so i think we should add the EX 1.
Who is the most famous in DB Drag and what class are they in.
answer- ALMA GATES and her EX Bronco
whenever i go to shop and say i compete in DB Drag they ask about Alma. They don't ask about who has the record in Street.
When you go to a DB drag/Car show people don't say wow look at that street car. They say wow look at that car with the bullet proof windows. EX is what draws a crowd, its what people like to see.

EX may be the biggest draw crowd wize but street bringsthe most new competitors and $$ to the DB Drag.....at 99% of the 1x events there are not even one EX caR....and the street cars most of the time outnumber all the rest at the event......

Jani used wery kind word. I wouldn't say slightly, I would say A LOT.

I am importer, and I get best possible prices, but after I add freight cost, custom taxes, VAT... things are already more expensive than internet price in USA.

Not to mention other costs: like gasoline... so this sport is much more expensive than in USA.

I have nothing against new street class, if it doesn't mean we can't have E1. I am not arguing which one would be better to have, I am just saying Extreme 1 is something that many people wants. As a representative, I have talked with other reps and we have not talked about the need for more Street classes, just clarifying some rules. There is the MiniStreet division where you can make as many classes as you want for your 1x event where you don't have any extreme cars. Just for your information, I have not seen one competition without Extreme cars here. This varies between countries quite a bit.

If the option is only to have more Street classes or new Extreme 1 class, I would vote for Extreme 1 and so would a lot of other people too - just count the US competitors away and you get more fair vote [Wink]

Hi Box,

as I see there won't be any big change this year, so you can start preparing your car.

Rules for 2002 are here: http://www.termpro.com/dbdrag/rules/rules1.html

and possible changes are discused in debates here in forum.

All things concidered.........i would like to try EX 1 if it came to be.....but i just feal Street 1 would be more benifitial......and with Street 1....you would not have te need for Ministreet as the vetrin competitors at all comps would be thined out between 3 classes.....alowing the newbies a better finish.......as for the $$ issue...it would be nice to address but is not an easy thing to do, at least in street.....with a max fuse rating you punnish those who chose to run class A/B amps.....with a retail price limmit you make Lanzar & JBL the amps of choice and punish those who run US amps , Zap and all other high end amps....remember even the 9.0 retails fro better than 2k....then with a cone area class base you make it a bit more confusing over the current system.....high excurtion woffers would be the only way to go as opposed to woffers like the L7 and hexogon with added cone area but 1/2 the excurtion of the others......they would be getting penalized even though they produce the same spl numbers as typical round ones....

Have you thought that mayby those who are now spectators, are mayby compertitors in the future? And therefore high numbers and "big" cars as crowd pleaser are more beneficial to this sports future than mayby new street class is? "Hey this looks fun. I want to try this!" And then they start at street and if they are really 110% into this sport, they don't care about the fact that they may not win at the first time. They think "mayby next time". They don't give up.

Do we really have that much "possible competitors" out there?

The problem is that things over here and over there are very different......something like an added street class may be good in the states but an added EX class would be good over seas...there is no was to make both sides of this argumant happy....over hear at every comp i have been to in the past 3 yrs there have been at least a dozzen people wanting to get into street class...but most were a bit aprehencive (spell) because of the big numbers 1st place was hitting....this is where a posible Street and Pro Street would be benifitial.....Pro street and street would have te same rules but if you went to finals you could not compete in Street...makes for a simple place to move up to....the problem with this is it would benifit us here but it may not be as benifitial over where you are from....

here is my humble opinion... if there is an Extreme 1 sub class, I will compete in it... I see EXACTLY what Nathan Munson sees on the subject of this class... more exposure for the stereo industry in how to build a rock solid product, the testing ground (our shows), and the popularity of 1 sub doing 175 db!!!

I'm all for it!!
I will vote for a 1 sub class, no matter how we set the classes to accomodate such a class...

Also, I think it has become competitive enough where things can be spread out a little more in the Street and Super Street divisions. I would do it like this:

S 1
S 2
S 3-4

SS 1 NW
SS 2 NW

SS 1
SS 2-3
SS 4-6
SS 7+

Ex 1
Ex 2-4
Ex 5-8
Ex 9-12
Ex 13+

on my first dB Drag Comp this summer, i had no chance to win with all the 2 sub installs in the Novice class. i mean, novice is more of a class for newbies such as myself just to get my feet wet. the guy that won that class definitly was NO novice.

I would have to agree here. I personally wouldnt only change it as such...
