I'm looking to get the best for the money. I was looking at the Fatmat 80mil and also their Mega Mat. I have also read a couple blogs that say the eDead is better. What do you guys think?

Seriously, I tested just about everything out there last year. I didn't test cascade.

second skin is easily the first choice.

scosche is also VERY good. It is generally a lot more expensive than the second skin, and it has a logo imprinted into it that makes it hard to get into some areas (because the logo cause the aluminium backing to bend weird).

Third (and it was a ways back) was the Dynamat Extreme.

Fourth was stinger

After that--just walk away.

Fatmat brand doesn't stick for crap

Secondskin if your looking for some great stuff at a good price.
If you're willing to spend the money, MagicMate400, DB-Blue, and Vibraflex is getting very popular

Don't you have to heat the magic mate up to a very high temp for it to be as good as it can be? How do you do that and not hurt the paint on the outside of the vehicle?

I misspoke above, add MagicMate400, DB-Blue, and Vibraflex as product I have not sampled.

I did test:

Raammat
Fat Mat
Peal and Seal
Second Skin
Dynamat
Stinger
Scosche
Elemental designs (2 different levels)
BQuiet

I think something else, but maybe not.

Also, know what your goals are. If your goal is to keep out road noise--mat based material is not what you want. you want foams. if you have panels vibrating against each other--the mat based materials are also not good for that. Other foams are.

If you have metal resonating, the mat based materials are good for that.

yes, you have to heat magicmate for a long time. A trick is to put a wet towel on the outside metal to wick heat from the metal and paint. then hold a torch or heat gun close to the mm400

Who makes magic mate and where can you get it?

Andy, what type of foam do you recommend for keeping out road noise?

I still wonder why those who say B-Quiet is crap, only use the Extreme to make their claim.

Not sure if this applies to Andy, but everyone else who's made the claim has only the used cheap crap.

Ultimate is great for the dollar.

I've actually played with both levels. The cheap stuff was complete crap. The other level is a bit better but still not even CLOSE to second skin or scosche. It isn't even remotely friggen close.

Buy a couple of square feet of both of those and look at the difference.

I second the second skin definitely. I have it on top of the ultimate in some areas. And I am now a full user of it for the rest of my install.

Just stating that I had no problems with the Ultimate the three years that it was on. Also that anyone who uses Raammat can't complain about this stuff cause side by side you can't tell a difference.

You still workin on that Ford!?!

Raammat is fine but it is THIN. You basically need two layers of it to match one layer of second skin. They are not remotely the same thing. Look at the aluminum backing on both (that's the important stuff). Look at the overall weight of both. Huge difference. Raammat is good, just expect to use a lot more of it.

Working on my truck and my car. Trying to build to competition cars in a year has been more difficult than I thought.

I just got a door pack of Second Skin from Ant today that I won in a contest on SMD.com I'm excited to put it in the car and see what kind of gains I can get out of it. Anyone have any advice when putting it in so it doesn't hurt my spl? The final box I will be using is not the box that's in the car right now so I'm not sure how much things will change with a new box. I can see it doing either though.
