What about safety glasses for the shattered glass? or gloves, long sleeves, and long pants to protect from flying glass. And a helmet or hardhat to protect your head?

I advise all of my competitors to use ear plugs, ear muffs, safety glasses and hard hats as well.

[Big Grin]

In all fairness, it might be "cool" to sit in high spl vehicles, but it is not smart.

One day you will see someones eye vessels rupture from bass, and your opinions will change quickly.

The organizations have a responsibilty to set a good example for current and future competitors.
Whether its cool or not...

So like Nascar, drag racing, fencing, boxing, volleyball, badminton, ping pong, lol etc... There are rules set in place for the contestants protection.

Live with them or leave.....
This is what NMCA told me 4 years ago.

Yep.

Me and Jimmy Blackmon were a team....
Jimmy actually built my first competition stereo! Back in 1992.

Fastest 10" street tire team in the NMCA.

82 Chevy Camaro, 468 with twin turbos... 1700hp
Then a 92 Pontiac...

Now Jimmy has a 05 Mustang with the same power plant.

I also used to race my Grand Nationals...

I think we were into the low 7 range back 5 years ago.... I heard Jimmy is in the 6's now....

I didn't hijack your thread.

I gave input... you asked a question.... I answered.

With Jimys car, I was the money man and a wrench man where needed.

With my Grand Nationals, i was driver and owner.

Fastest GN I had was 9.14 in quarter mile.
Daily driver....sort of...lol

None anymore.

I sold my last one back in 1999. It was the fast one.... 1987 with t-tops.... This is the one that I raced Richard Clark in from Greenville SC all the way to Perry GA.....lol

My uncle Ed actually owned the GNX.

I will dig for a few pics, and scan them into computer....

This is what NMCA told me 4 years ago.

About the comp safety ..... No offense but that is crap. So you going to start seeing real drag racing using remotes for the drag cars . they still get to feel the thrill.. Fencing(going to start using rubber instead of metal)...boxing(no more contact, Just style points)Point is that you become a spectator when you no longer can participate

Product liability insurance requires me to put warnings on my products,,, advising users to practice safe sound.

I am sure the same goes for Iasca as well.

hey John , Brent here....let me get this straight....your fastest GN would go 9.14 in the 1/4 (which I'll assume it makes in the neighborhood of 750 to 800 h.p.@ the crank if its in "street trim" and weighing over 3000lbs)AND your "fast one" (which must mean that your referring to the same car) was raced from Greenville to Perry ...and all of this took place back in the day?

Guys, I am not lying to you....
Brad I pm'd you to have Brent call me and I will tell him what all was done to the car.... A guy named Dana built it back then.... he worked for "Bowling green customs" which was over in Alpharetta area back then....
Alot of the old school guys remember my cars I am sure.... I know Richard will remember.....
Neill might remember... I am not sure if I knew him well back then....

There was even a GN back then doing 7's.... I think it was called "twisted" and it was bright green..... I remember seeing it in Bristol one year....

Richard had numerous cars that fast back then (9's and 10's)....
He still owns a company that makes the GNX rear suspension upgrade for gn's.... LAst time I visited his place back in 99, he had a building full of gn's...

Anyways, I have attached a few photos that I was able to find.... from late 99.... these are of my daily driver GN.... It ran High 12's with Mickeys and draglites at the track... I think I ended up having to put a cage in that one.... I think it only had 10mm magnecor wires, a T61 turbo, shift kit, alternator strap and a upgraded intercooler....
Alot of my photos are with my mother I am sure.... but I found these here in a scrap book....

Enjoy....
