Those subs look dangerously close to the tailgate/hatch.

What kind of car is that a Mazda 323 hatchbback? I bet if you ported the box say with 2 6" on top of the box it would be louder. BTW nice setup my next car will be a hatchback.

Thats a nice finish on the box.

As far as going ported with those Vmaxs, I've actually done ported with boxes smaller than Cerwin's recommended specs with decent results. (actually with a pair of tens I dropped them into a box smaller than their rec. sealed volume)

The only problem I have had with that series of Vmax 12"s was the tinsel leads breaking.

I have a friend that blew 1 15" V-max off a R-F 360a2 in a sealed box. I let him borrow the amp. He had this in a regular cab S-10. The passegner side had no legroom but he had bucket seats. That setup was loud I was suprised that he blew it but he's a volume freak. He smoked the coil. The sub was a single 4 ohm. His box was like 3.5 cubes sealed.

He must really be volume happy. I strapped two MTX 1500ds to one svc 4ohm 15 for burps and some demoing without any hang-ups. Then again, I really wasn't trying all that hard to beat the poo out of it.

I found out what happened the gain was half-way up and his cd player is a 4 volt preout. I set it up but one of his friends told him to turn the gain up from 1/4 and it would get louder. I seen the sub and thought it would be indestructable. I told to him that and he took that as a challenge.
