I really hate to ask this, because I know everyone is sick of questions on system noise. I've looked all over for an answer to this, but I haven't found anything that's applied to my problem.
I had alternator whine, and I fixed that by changing the HU grounding point. I still have a noise that only comes on when the car is on, but doesn't change in frequency. It's a very high pitch, and some of my elders can't even hear it.
If I unplug the rca's going to the amp for my highs, it goes away. If I unplug the rca's going to my sub-amp, and plug the ones to my highs back in, it goes away. If both are plugged in, there's noise. Before I had the rca's going to the sub amp, and then I used a shorter set of rca's coming from the subamp's rca output to the amp for my highs. The noise problem was much more present then. I changed it so that they each have their own set of rca's from the outputs in the back of the HU, and now I am where I am now.
Both amps are grounded to the same location on the chassi.
Based on this information it is my belief that the problem is coming from the sub amp because of how the problem was worse when I was using the rca outputs on the sub amp, and how I have no noise from the highs when the sub amp isn't connected to the rca's. However, I am not the expert here . Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ok, I went out and tried that. That brought in a ton of alternator whine.
I'm pretty sure I've singled out the source as the sub amp; I can hear the same sound coming from the amp itself when I put my head close to it. No hissing, it's just a very high-pitched whine. It's inaudible unless your head is about 2 feet from the amp. The amp for my highs doesn't make this noise. I'm thinking the sound itself might be normal, but why it's coming through to my speakers is what's confusing me. Any suggestions as to what this might be? I sure as hell hope that amp isn't about ready to die on me. I don't really have the funds to pick up a new one at this point in time. It's a kx600.1 btw.
