I haven't had too much luck doin bandpass, what formula or guidlines do you guys use when you design them?

this is the guidelines i follow
The bigger the sealed chamber is, the lower the FL will be. The smaller the sealed chamber is, the higher the FL will be.
The bigger the sealed chamber is, the lower the power handling will be. If the rear chamber(s) is/are too big, the amount of power the system can handle is reduced.
The smaller the rear chamber(s) is/are, the higher power handling will be but of course, the low-frequency extension will suffer as a result.

As the size of the ported chamber increases, the bandwidth decreases. So, the more efficient we make the system, the smaller the passband will be. If the system is made too efficient (outrageously large front chamber), we'll wind up with "one-note" bass so typical of a myriad of mis-tuned bandpass enclosures on the market today. On the other hand, as the front chamber volume increases, the better the transient response of the system will be, and this is good.

80, does this philosophy go for both 4th order and 6th order BP enclosures?

i would argue with that, but i don't want to say too much about mine....i will tell you this though i have a gigantic from chamber over 50 cubes and a pretty small sealed side and I'm doing pretty good in SPL and it plays from 40 - 80 hz over 155

well from what u said..thats the only reason why i would make my ported chamber huge and have small sealed chambers..with small sealed cham, bers u can put alot of power to your subs and by having a huge ported chamber u will have a very efficient box ..so it will play louder

i would like 2 c your setup..if possible
