Would you drive 5 hours for a 1x event? The first event that is pretty close to where I live is a 5 hour drive for me. Do you think its worth it? I figure that 8 pts can be the difference between an invitation to finals or not. What do you think?

No drive and win. I drove from Green Bay to lower MI three weekends in a row back in 1999 to get enough points to go to finals, and to get three big green martans.

I drove close to 6 hours for a single pointer that was in St. Ann, MO. According to Mapquest it is a little over 7 hours, but I don't think it took that long. I ended up with 101 points that year. Took first by default.

Living in SC, I have to drive those distances all the time. It's the competition that keeps me going, not points.

if you enjoy competing.. then its worth it.
i know several of us have driven that, and then some, for 1x events.
its all about what going to a show means to you.
for me, its the friendships, the challenges, the rivalries, and the naps.

Yeah, I am looking forward to the next time ! Especially when I see my new ride what I am building right now. Doing mainly dB Drag and Bass Race, and also SQ competitions. But its not especially build for it. Its good old SQPL style
(more about that car when I have time, in a seperate topic)
All the nice hours spending in the car, listening to Music or watching movies (dont do that while driving:) ) is really worth it. Also, as mentioned the meeting with good folks...

After reading what you guys have to say, I've decided to go. The only problem is I don't think I will have everything ready by then. I still haven't ordered my sub yet. The comp is in 10 days. I don't think I can recieve my sub and hook everything up by then.

Borrow a sub. That happens a lot in the competition world these days. Hope to see you at my show in Fairfield, OH in just over a week. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Theres not to many people in my town that have subs that can handle the power i'm pushing. I might be getting a 12" Team Rockford soon though. I'll go if I can.
