1.Mark Fukuda (dominant for years) 2. Alma Gates (made above domination obsolete)
three and four get a little harder. maybe
3. Mikko Virta (changing the extreme class forever) 4. Scott Ownes (does he ever get beat?)
Its really hard to break it down to just 4. There are alot that could be in there if they just competeted longer. If you go old school, there are alot of guys that did really innovative things. There was no more exciting time in SPL history then when Doug Smith and Protech beat Fukuda for the first time on the B&K in USAC, before DBD. Back in those days Mark was untouchable, and you had to wait til flashdance was over to see the score . USAC was the only org that did SPL in those days, and the B&K was the ultimate. If you werent around then you really dont understand how things have changed.
I would say the top 4 would be people that were builders in addition to competitors. Alma is a exception, as her personality and drive has made her our biggest celebrity

Brad has some real good nominations. I'd second those. Maybe there should be two separate things, a Hall of Fame (overall effect on our sport) and then the greatest all time (based on wins, WR, and world championships). Some could be both, but there are those who impacted the sport, but were not always winning championships that should be recognized.

Brad - I am the king of SPL Trivia
Doug Smith (unsponsored) won the amautuer class and Mark (sponsored)won the pro class. Doug did have a higher score than Mark. It was great sea saw battle. Some believe it was bad for the sport to have an amautuer beat a pro. Hi spl of the day went to the - Equalizer (me)
Doug Smith retired because health issues (heart attack) (saw his credit card bill)

Jay lovelace.Competed since at LEAST 95. Was the first to beat Alma and Jon Henry, won deatmatch, has the bike still at Creative Acoustics. NUMEROUS sponsorhips, MMATTS, CV, MTX, etc. The checkered van (the main one) is undefeated. Won too many NSPL records to list.
Competed in SQ AND security back in the "Perry, GA" days (early 90's) with his 65 Mustang with Hifonics and DEI.
Basically, the man is one of THE best. He may not be a "Termpro" favorite but to people who know names and faces besides screen names here, this man is the ****.

Id like to make a bid for the top 10?I also have 4 DB drag titles,8 iasca and 8 usac, titles.First ama to break 160db in 1997,then in 1998 first and only ama to break 170db.Competitor ove the year twice.I sapose i could go on and on but i just thought after 10 years in the game myself i might get a nod or two.I also agree with,Cook,Alma,Owens,Lovelace,Facuda,Harris,Norras,Cobbs,Shaker,Horn would be my top 10.If you dont no these last names, maby you should do some research.SPL Shows have been going on for 25Plus years now, just my 2 cents.
