I am working on a proposal for 12 1x events to be held in and around Toronto during the months of May to September. The shows will be held on Saturdays and Sundays. Some on them will be back to back Sat/Sun events at two different locations and I was wondering in any our friends south of the boarder will attend the events.

No, they probably wouldn't even for a double, maybe a triple, no one cares about SPL events taking place in Canada as you can see this is the first post in quite a few hours

i would...

but i dont think they'll let me cross the border anymore with my felony [Frown]

i'm off probation.. so legally i CAN cross the border.. but not sure if canada is letting felons cross or not.

and sorry kyle, but some of us dont care what country the show is in, as long as its a dbdrag event, and within a driveable distance.

barrie/toronto/collingwood, etc... those are all a fairly short drive from ohio, michigan, wisconsin, and new york.

ya it would be cool but the 90dollars to get a passport sucks. I would be willing to come to a few shows. Just dont make them at the same time Ny and Ct have theres setup for. People might just show up.

Porn Star it sounds you know the area. The shows will be held in the areas you just mentioned. They are all with an hour or two of the border.
I would appreciate the attendance but I don't expect the world.

The passport issues only apply to travel by air.

See below.

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html

Under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI)

The proposed implementation timeline has two phases:

Beginning January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document, or an Alien Registration Card, Form I-551, if applicable.

As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries.

I know what you mean, hell for most 2x db drags in western canada it is at least a 6 - 10 hour drive for me. It seems like there is more than enough shows in the ohio area, so I dont really see too many people driving to Canada to compete in a 1x show

The problem with that is that both certified Canadian 3X judges live on the western side of Canada

someone in the east needs to step up and become a certified judge !! [Smile]

btw: all the certified judges are allowed to go wherever they are asked to go..

ie: you guys could get sam or jeremy or steve etc... to come up there for a double or triple.

hell, steve just did a triple in brazil!!

While all Canadian Judges could travel the cost of a air ticket from the west coast to the east coast is quite expensive and would probobly add a good $1000 to the cost of hosting the show just in travel expenses. As I recall though Sam Horn has made a couple of trips to the great white north in order to host shows. It would be nicer if someone from Ontario would step up but it may not happen. Even if your were to host a triple I doubt you would be impressed by the turn out...probobly just the same locals as would come to any event plus a couple americans but not enough to make it worthwhile cause the american draw vs. a double would probobly not offset the differance in cost to host.

I would come, I live near philly but me and my buddies party in Toronto all the time, I love Canadian girls. I think the girl to guy ratio is very high in Toronto. Either way, If you build it, I will come.
