Jose was telling me that if you run the 39.9 class you get bonus points or something?
I think a lot of people like the 29.9 class since you don't need a huge setup to do it (like me) and it's more skill than playing a setup for all it's got. Fred, you're different with your 150+ setups, since you playing music full out would probably end up with something in the high to mid 40s range, whereas some of us quieter guys can't even get to a 39.9 full out. Cory, Jose, Mike and I were talking about this at the most recent show, and saying how in 29.9 you have to be a lot more careful because 1-2 clicks could be a big difference whereas in 39.9, 49.9, etc it may take 4-5 clicks to get the same change. Maybe that's just me though...
I like the way it's setup, personally. The only thing I could think of would be a little more emphasis on the Dbdrag placement, even though I'm going to have to run NW here soon, so this idea would kill me. Do something like if you win your dbdrag class, you get an extra point or something like that. I dunno, it's your call Greg, and it's gone pretty well this year if you ask me.

I'm down to step it up next year and do 39.9. Thats only cuz my score went up. And its gone up more since the nati show. I liked how the point system was for ESP. Its fair and it gives you chances to get extra points. I've enjoyed the ESP Challenge. Its motivated me more cuz theres a cash purse at every comp. And ofcourse I'm getting points for the Finals along the way.

I have been taking in all of your thoughts and comments so far and I would to hear more from you guys as you are the ones that have to go by and deal with the guidelines set forth. I want to make things as fair as possible for everyone. I want to keep the focus on the Bass Race rather than dB Drag as far as your comment Matt. Just because someone is super loud in their dB Drag class would give them a distinct advantage to get more bouns points. I will make a few changes to some of the 5 methods to accrue points and the new major changes will be finalized by the ESP Finale.

I agree with that, you should get extra points for placing well or winning other formats.

what he said...
at every show except svr during the splmax cup in 08 i was capable of running 149.9 class if i had to.. Because at svr i saw that it was going to be a necessity..
i had no reason to waste the gas to take my explorer to all the shows this year. jose showed that you can kill everyone while only doing 129.9 class.
unfortunately now at the end of the season i see that i need to have at least 37 points with the vehicle i'm taking to finals.. but thats another story.
Back to sparking more loud builds. not sure how to do that.. maybe 1 point for 120-129.9 2 bonus points for 130-139.9, 4 bonus points for 140-149.9, and 6-8 bonus points for 150-159.9
also maybe some stipulation in the perfect 9.9's points for the 159.9 class. this might be making it to complicated but maybe change the scale so that the full points are given for 159.9 but 2nd to the most for anything above a 159.5 and 3rd for anything above a 159.0...
because you could really be risking a LOT of expensive damages trying to do that 159.9.. vs just letting it play at one volume to do a 159.6 or something.. Plus a 159.0 is almost as impressive as a 159.9 imo
just my $0.23

A simple fix would be to have each esp competitor have to run 4 rounds to win. 1 qualifier and 3 rounds the same as you would in a full bracket.
This would give an equal opportunity for all the bass race classes.

Who would the competitor run against in them 3 rounds if theres only four people? Theres alot of ways to get points. the db drag bass race and nspl and usac. Thats like 6 to 7 different ways to get points. But in the end winning the class is what helps the most. I wouldnt be mad if there wasnt any changes. I just wish that db drag would put 1-2 and 3-4 back in NW. but I ain't tripping bout that either 4real.

Point is advantage to the 129 and 139 class regulars. 149 and 159 have virtually no chance of winning the esp challenge event without dropping into a lower class.
Yep I've been drinking again.

Yea, I would have to agree with the extra point or some kind of perk for placing better in your class.

maybe give 29.9 1 pt and 39.9 2pts 49.9 3 pts and 59.9 4pts per competitor for entering. That should even it out Fred. That way those in unfull classes still get some pts cuz it aint they fault that they class aint full. And Greg I do have a suggestion or more like an idea. I'd like to see a Midwest Nationals. I always read bout SBNs and how people gear up to go to that. Well itd be nice to have something big like SBN is down in FL but here somewhere in the midwest. Cuz slamology aint til June or so. I think it'd be a hit in this region. Cuz when its SBN weekend I have a system thats ready to go I just don't be having the resources to get the equipment to get my car down there.

Good call on the midwest nationals Mike. I have the same feelings about having a system ready to go and not having the time or money to make a 16 hour drive to Florida.
Greg will be in a prime position to put on a large sbn type event that the majority of us will happily support.

I tell you what I hope that Greg has a test and tune like a week before the show. I may have to break down and get a meter. Cuz I never know what helps or hurts. I just know what I hit at each show. I wish db drag would cut people a discount on a meter if they get so many points or qual for finals.lol
