Is there anything in the rule books that dictate that MP3 players cannot be used in Bass Race?

Yes it does. You can only use comercial available CD's, no MP3 or burn CD's.

I guess I need to find a damn CD player that doesn't skip. I currently have the Sony MP-80 with the G-Shock protection tray, but that turned out to be nothing more than a paper weight when the bass is pumping. Any suggestions on a non-skipping CD player?

loosen it from the cage so it can slide in and out of the dash easily, i've found being snug in the dash makes your deck skip

HMMM!!! That puzzles me just a little bit. There doesn't seem to be much play in the cage on my headunit. Is there something else that I could try?
