Good luck. I'm right there with you. I'm currently burping at a 149.3 with 2 12's in my daily box and I need to find a song with a constant bass line in the 52 hz range. Lil Jon will do it for 139.9, but I need to be closer to tuning to try and pull a 149.9 Mike Singer can do a 149.9 with 2 12's in his Eclipse. He made a vid with it doing a 149.6, but it is capable of 149.9 In order to do the 149.9 class you need to be able to burp in the 150.5+ range. I think once I add a ho alt and a few more batteries I'll be even closer to doing it in my car. I could just rebuild the box, but I love the one I got Good luck to you too Rob. I'm glad you like the song that I reccomended. I'm surprised you didn't know about that one.

No I haven't, but that will be one that I try out at the next event. My peak in the car is 52hz so that would be perfect. I did a practice bassrace run on Lil Jon and I did a 147.3 with a bad woofer. So I would expect to do a 148+ with a better song and both woofers working properly. Thanks for the reccomendation.

I do believe subs get hot from clipping the signal(typically). A couple of other factors are higher impedence rise in a larger closure.Higher reactive load=lower output and generally will cause you to turn up the volume to the point where the input from the headunit or the output from the amp is clipping. Remember a clipped input signal is also a clipped output signal. Also, larger boxes play lower notes. Lower notes produce more electrical current from your amplifer as well as more current drawn from the battery by the amplifier. Bigger boxes also dont control the cone as well and tend to let the subwoofer reach over excursion. As you know overexcusrion can ruin things like surrounds, tinsel leads, ect. Smaller boxes offer a lower reactive load but need longer ports to tune lower. The only contradiction is with sealed boxes. Small sealed boxes have a higher reactive load than a larger box but also at a higher frequency. The only failure I've had was coils overheating do to clipping. Starting off at a higher volume and maybe actually practicing just might help me.

I think its possible, but going to be realy hard out of a trunk car. My friend Rich was doing a 149.7 legal with the seat up and iirc 51 seat down with a very musical box.

Well I glued da piss out of the subs and put them back together. I'm gonna throw in an old box on the back seat and go nuts on them for a few days.
Ordered Dual 2 Aluminum with extra stiff suspension.
Amp is scheduled to be here mid week!
Going out to by some wood for new box tonight. Found some extra time. Will have everything in soon!
