I was burping a 155.5 with this setup. I basically just used my SPL boxes with one 6" port per eclosure, cut the longest port length I could fit between the boxes and the back panel of the car and had at it. I didn't start well or even at full tilt. I would have to say that IF you get a perfect start and keep clipping to zero and you stand a chance. Be prepared to swap woofers after the second run or know, for certain, that they are gonna last. Test, test, test, and repeat.

I'm not sure if the HDC's will take 5k apiece but I know these particular HD3's will take that and more. I've seen these burped at 10k plus on 2 atomic 7k's. [Big Grin] 8xtra stiff spiders per 10. [Eek!] DJ seems to think I'll have no problem. [Blob]

Good luck Rob, but I think it's gonna be harder than you think it will be. Bassrace is more than just having a loud system. You have to be quick to react. You will need to get your starts down perfect if you plan on standing a chance at doing this. The charging system will have to be concrete. No drops in voltage or kiss that score good bye. Last you'll need some song with a constant bass line, but not sine waves. I'll help you with the song and get it over with Lil Jon Kings of Crunk album song 8 Push that Nigga 24 seconds into the track is the start time. It's peaking at 43hz so that's right where you're gonna need your car to peak at to even stand a chance. Good luck and I'd love to see you be able to do it, but if Eric hasn't done it yet I'm not saying you can't it'll just be more difficult for you to since your score isn't even at a 149.9 yet and his was at 155.5

I'm searching now for that song. ^^^do you happen to know the name? or maybe could you send it to me? That would be awesome!

I've done a fair amount of bassracing whenever I get out to Buffalo with Psychoacoustics. So I do understand how hard its gonna be, and yes it's gonna be even harder comin out of a trunk. LOL

If I can get it done I'll be at SBN next yr. to show it off.

Also buying a meter from my teammate DefJ and will be getttin the add on to do bassrace so I can do lots of testing in the backyard of my new home.

There you go man. Practice with that one and get your stuff in line. I'm not sure if all the new TL's have the start for bassrace like the one's used at shows I've been to. I've been on TL's that don't actually start bassrace until it says go, but at all the shows I go to and I even saw it at finals you want to start bassracing right before set. So when it says ready...GO! at this point. Some TL's I've practiced on show you redlighting if you go after ready right before set. They won't show the score and start reading until go. Make sure that your starts are for right before set and your timing will be down. If you practice to go on go your starts will be off and you won't be able to put up good numbers. Good luck Rob!

Nevermind, I figured out the subs...Audioque HDC's. Try a transmission line box tuned to the FS of the subs.

Yes they are AudioQue but they are the older model the HD3 series.

Res freq of car is around 45-47 depending on weather etc.. Not sure what a transmission line bos is but I'm currently using a HUGE L port (SLOT) box. Port is 10W x 13.5H x 29.5L.

It took Jer and I about 5 hrs. to tune this box. Triming the port length down .5in at a time till we went past our peak then lengthened the wall again till we peaked at 47. Since sealing the box to the cabin freq. it dropped to 45. New box will be tuned closer to 43-45 but the loading chamber will prob. remain the same. everyone asks how I can make my tens work with a port that big and my honest opinion is the smaller chamber.

When trying bigger chambers the subs heated up fast. Can't honestly explain why but it did. so here we are with a crazy box and some pretty loud 10's. lol

The reason your subs heated up faster in a bigger enclosure is because there was less impedence rise with that box. The bigger the box the less rise resulting in more power going to the woofers. Since you cut down the internal volume your rise went up and you were actually getting less power from your amplifier.

allnightlong is correct its about impedence rise.

now if those subs were in 2cf for the pair net with that port you would be tuned in the 70hz range.

might want to try and shrink the port down to give the subs alittle more room so ur rise isnt as bad.

what a loud car comes down to is TIME the more time you spend working on it the louder it will get. i can tell rob has put mannny hrs into his ride and its paying off for him.

So how do I test to actually find out my true impedence and output from my amp? I'm no hard head LOL If there's something I can change to make my ride louder I'll do it!

You need a dmm and a ac current meter. You will want to clamp the negative wire going to the sub. If you have more than one negative wire going to a sub then clamp both. You will take the dmm and set it to voltage and probe the positive and negative speaker leads with the leads from the dmm. Next play your burp freq and measure the ac current and ac voltage at the same time. There's two different ways to determine power and one is rms and the other is peak. For peak you can just set the peak hold function on the meters and for rms you will have to wait 3 seconds into the burp and press the hold yourself unless you have a true rms meter. Now once you have the figures for current and voltage you will take the voltage and divide by the current. That number will tell you the impedence your amp is playing at. You can then take that number and subtract you nominal impedence to find out what the rise is, but the acutal impedence that the amp is seeing is found after you divide the voltage by the current. Also to find the power that you're making all you need to do is multiply the voltage by current and that is the power the amp is making. Any questions? [Smile]
