in between when u hear it say ready and then say set, that is the actual point in time the 30 second clock starts counting and thats when u should have bass music start playing
if you watch the board and listen and start when u see and hear GO, u are two seconds too late and u have a HORRIBLY LATE start and ur score will not be as high as you could get
this is why noone has broke a 150, everyone is starting when they hear go
GO does not mean GO, Go means u are two seconds late
this software problem is very bad for bass race
:::also to clarify a previous question::: if u start ur bass before the thing says go u will not red light. if u start it before the 30 second clock on the actual computer monitor screen starts counting, not the leaderboard display, then u will red light
i remember the start used to go something like this...
READY SET 30 seconds 29 seconds GO 28 seconds
this was a easy way to start since u can time when the go should be, but it was late so u just started after u heard set
NOW, with the update this is what happens...
READY 30 seconds <---this is when the meter starts running SET 29 seconds GO!!!!! <---this is when everyone is starting 28 seconds
i just checked the term lab forum and the update post wayne posted was on 9/25 for the new tl update
there were no shows except for california between 9/25 and 10/7 world finals, so they changed the software 2 weeks before finals and nobody knew anything was different with bass race unless you have access to a meter and updated the software
and the update was supposed to "fix" the problem with bass race? all it has done is made it horribly worse
i gotta call bull**** on this. not trying to piss anyone off, the update doesnt affect me or my bass race score, it just dissapoints me seeing everyone go up in the lane and start at go like it has been all season and get a really low score when they should be doing way higher
so yeah, this kinda sucks for bass race, id like to see bass race become very popular and i know it could, but this update 2 weeks before finals and after every show has taken place has done nothing but cause complete confusion for every bass racer.
i know tonite, friday, there should have been at least two cars in the 150-159.9 class, but starting 2 seconds late at GO!! really hurts that score
grr...
this either needs to be addressed and fixed/changed, or there needs to be a big announcement to everyone doing bass race so everyone knows how the hell it starts now, because judging from tonights runs, nobody has a clue...

This is what I was telling you guys months ago. We had the same problem when Pipo did the 151.7 instead of his real number, I even posted a video from FL finals about this problem.

I didn't go and thank god I didn't because I would be so mad if this $hit was pull after all the money I would spent. I rather spend my money right now in my new house. Good luck to everyone hope the software can go back to normal by next year.

thats funny the only people i see that did bad or had a problem in bass race was the ones that didn't win, we all had the same count down to work with right? some of us must have done or homework because i'm sure when i got in the lanes the count down was the same as the guys before me because i was there and I made the change to help my self so dont blame anyone or anythang. if it took you that long to see that it was not the same as before then maybe the count down was not the delay it could have been you. Great idea Steve but there is a little thing called Red light ( which will cause your score to be a zero). The previous and I would assume that the most recent updates actualy turn the mic on before the timer starts to listen for this. I haven't heard much boasting from anywhere since these changes were made. I guess it is harder when you can't start with the music already playing. I know that Tommy did his best number with the new software 154.1 and I have done my personal best with the new software that detects an early start also 152.8.

Steve that is part of the Challenge to get a perfect start. They are trying to add the human element. I mean with Burping it is not like you can press the button harder to make it louder. That is one of the things that I like about Bass race is that there is actualy a "driver" element that has to be in the game.

I don't understand. Its 30 second average. if you play it for 45 seconds, only 30 of that counts.
Mind you we're talkign about the software and the delay causing people not to know when to start. 28 seconds for my timer. Some say 26. I have seen termlab stall at 3 seconds and hold for 3 seconds before finishing.
This is very confusing for some if you read and my fix is to get rid of the red light feature. It really does nothing and proves nothing.

Aparently you are totally against the bass race format and do not understant that it is music and operator control that actualy make the competition interesting. If you start late even though you have the louder system you could lose due to the fact that you average in zeros for the time you are not playing. So it is system knowledge and reaction time that make this format so interesting not just who has the most money to buy the loudest equipment.

Yeah all Steve is saying is fix the software so that you know when to start and not have everybody confused. I like the idea of the human reaction time its like drag racing where your watching for the lights. This is alright but people have to know when they can actually start is the problem

Can we progran the light tower to light the red for ready yellow for set and the green for go? I know not everyone has a tower but most major promoters do. I remember way back in 96 that the tower would flash all lights on the go mark and those were when it was the white headlamps boy was it bright. I do believe that if you turn off the Sound synthesizer that may help speed up the computer during that process.

"will" have you downloaded the "new" sofeware for bass race that came out just before w/f? because it was easy to get your 30seconds in we could all see the board so the guy that let the 2seconds go can only point the finger at them self. no i'm not saying that it was perfect but we all had to deal with the same thang.BASS RACE 140.0-149.9 WORLD CHAMP STEP HARRIS.
