G's were available for sale in limited quantities in the 2000 competition season. They have a bigger magnet and motor structure, and can withstand more power. I've seen them take a pair of zr1000s per one woofer and not pop.

i know a couple guys that have them, and i have seen a few subs advertised as G series for sale used.
its a lot like the ID SPL... it wasnt produced for retail sale, but sometimes they end up available anyway.
if you are considering spl competitions, and you will have more than their rated rms power per woofer, i totally think you should upgrade to the G series.
the regular l7's arent known for their high thermal power handling capabilites (though are a decent all around sub).
if you arent even going to feed them much more than their rated power, or you are seeking sq or just a daily driver, i really dont think it will be worth the extra bling and the search party

They aren't for sale currently as the primary production run was in the 2000 season. I've never seen ANY used ones for sale - as far as I know, very few were sold. I know two hard-core competitors using Gs, Alma Gates (who runs 48, one ZR1000 per) and Krik Mouridian (12, with two ZRs per).

No, the regular L7s won't handle AS much power, and the first few batches had some kinks that Kicker worked out - I've seen a pair of L712s, regular, handle more than 1k each in dbDrag in street 1-2, busting over 151-152.

I know that Kicker is looking into producing the G-series again, and potentially in more sizes. But I don't know what size, and when, or even if it's certain it will happen. I also know stuff that I can't tell ya yet.

Alma's on vacation the next couple weeks - but when she gets back I'm sure she'll be happy to answer with what she knows.

hey, krissa, is it?
i met you at finals, this is andrew hunt-
mic's friend, i ran a couple errands for you and steve.
anyway, yeah i saw a couple for sale used that said they were G series.. .but online, who knows what they were?
but i do know a couple kicker dealers that used them in vehicles and have offered to sell them if the price was right, so they arent completely unavailable.im sure alma can spread some light on the subject upon her return.

Like I said, can't tell ya or they'd have to kill me.

I do remember meeting you at IASCA...

Subs are what I've heard about. Guess we'll see.

for short spl bursts the Regular L7 subs can handle quite a bit over their rated power... we have a guy with a single 10" L7 with 1000 watts to it (two JL 500) in the TRUNK of a 98 cavalier.. does a 149.9!!! SO THEY CAN GET REALLLY LOUDD!!!!!

another with a single 12 in a blazer doin a 149.9 with a d300hc, and another with a OLD PPI amp 1200 watt doin a 152.2 with one 15! in a work van!!!

Sooooo they can get loud... the g series are insane... but for most of us.. the reg series are just as good as most all other SPL subs....

If I remember right, Aaron said the G series 10's sold for about $1200 a piece... If they make them in a 12" or 15" I'd definetly get a pair (and maybe half that crazy price...)

I've currently got a pair of XS100's and pair of L7 12's in a sealed enclosure and they've handled quite a bit of street bangin. When I ran them ported - I was blowing them left and right with a pair of DX700's though... (clipping issue I think...)

Can't wait to see what Kicker unveils at CES... (would also be nice if they dropped a 2000 watts or so amp on us...)

Wishful thinking
