Man I wish that was true! I would have it made!
No, they did not promise me anything. Only that we would have a good product to be proud of and that it would be loud. What more can I ask for?
I think what you may have heard is that Kicker has a B&K and they were ordering a mic that would read to 180db.
It seems like there are lots of rumors going around at this time. So if you have more questions, please feel free to ask.
180db? hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? Think if I was a really nice old lady, Santa might?? naw - could never be that good. LOL

Mongerson, It has nothing to do with products, but with the measuring equipment and frequencies in place in db drag, I really doubt you will see a legal 180 this year.

Low_rider, since I am the one who does this thing, and I know what was promised me, I can guarantee you that Kicker did not make any such promise to me. I would love that promise, but????? And trust me, I would love to do a 180db, with Kicker products, and perhaps someday I will. Until that time, its all talk, work, and dreams. Would you please email me the name of this rep - azspl@aol.com. thanks

Hmm sounds like an over zealious rep. I also had a Orion Rep tell me that alma was going with kicker and the deal was more or less signed. But I know this to be not true. He didnt know that I know alma. Was kinda funny.
I cant say the rep didnt say that but I REALLY REALLY doubt that kicker promised this. And I doubt ANY company would promise this.
mongerson....You know what...I will be VERY supprised if the bronco does a 180 also. But then again I will be supprised if ANY vehicle out there does that number. It has NOTHING to do with product and more to do with the frequency's being used and the equipment that is doing the readings. The meter that would have to be used to read a REAL and accureate 180 is a B&K and a 180 on a B&K is like VERY VERY impressice. Toys with Noise is doing 165's?? I believe..and on a B&K did a 157 something.
Heck,,,I have 2 $179 full retail subs in my car. Doing 155.6 legal with just 2 15's. SO product has less to do with it and install has alot more to do with it.
I do have a question. What made you change your opinion of the L7's?

Now am I understanding this, the person that said Kicker made this wonderful promise is a sales person at Audio Express in Conway? If so, how would he know, Audio Express does not carry Kicker to my knowledge. I was at a show in St.Louis last week at an Audio Express store and if I remember, I was the one of a very few people with a kicker shirt on. So the is it sort of second hand information? Please help me out.

LOL - Rob, I was informed this week that I am leaving Kicker and Panasonic! Gossip does fly - are we having fun yet?
For Anyone interested,
I AM NOT LEAVING KICKER, PANASONIC, OR ANY OF MY SPONSORS.
We have all worked too darn hard on this project and we like each other! Bronco and Explorer will be out very shortly. Golf cart is ready to do! Unless the guys cut another hole in it today! LOL

Do ya'll realize that if the Bronco ever does a 180 that so many people will change their views on Kicker products. I'm from Ok so they are very popular here and I use to run em before I switched to JL. IMO kicker makes great products, but it seems like a lot of people diss Kicker and say they are a medium quality brand. I think the L7's are capable of a 180 but that's just my opinion. I would love to see ya'll do a 180 or at least break the record so these fools will eat their words.

Above it incorrectly states that the product has nothing to do with it. If that holds true alma, then why arent you using "Road Gear" equiptment? True application and installation are the majority of the factors, and frequency determines alot also, but with a louder sub you will always be able to have a louder stereo.

I would kill myself if I used Road Gear equipment. The install may be a major factor but you can't leave out the equipment. If you don't use good quality stuff then you're never gonna get the right sound.

Please exlain how one sub is louder than another? I am having a hard time making sense of this since they cannot produce any kind of sound by themselves. Audio is a combination or variables.

It's really quite simple. Let's say you have a good quality sub. I don't know, let's call it Kicker, and then you have a road thunder sub, and you put the same amp to both of them. One is gonna make little hits and dinks. The other is gonna thump hard. Can you guess which one is gonna dink and which one is gonna thump? Trust me. I have heard those $40 subs before and it is not even worth it to waste your money on em. They sound like complete crap.

There are tons and tons of factors that effect the audio environment, however with a louder sub, you will be able to have a higher decibal. Some subs are designed to appeal to sound quality. Even though SQ is strictly an opinion, subs designed to perform in this manner are high in music quality to the general public. SPL designed subwoofers are designed completly different. An SPL sub is designed to be loud. They usually dont sound good because they boost only a small amount of the lower bandwidth. Application, box design, installation there are tons of factors, but if these factors remain at a constant high standard, a louder sub will always win in an SPL competition.
