I want to put a motorized amp rack in the bed of my new Xtreme. The only thing is I don't know the first thing about what kind of motors to use, how to install them and what functions they do. I want something like a panel with the amps mounted on it, with a plexi panel over that. What I want is a 3-way switch mounted so that it has a neutral position an up and down position. When you activate the switch the plexi panel moves up and down so you can access the amps.
Thanks,
Chris

You need what are called motorized actuators, if all you want to do is move the Plexi top panal. They are basically a long pole with an electric motor that when activated, move the pole up or down. I would think that if you would mount the actuators on an angle you could get the desired effect. I have never done this, but that is what I would look into.

a 6" linear actuator should do the trick.
you could use a momentary switch to controll this function of the up and down movement.

How much is a linear actuator? Where can I get one? I plan on doing the install myself...How hard are they to install?

Go to selectproducts.com. They have what you are looking for, but you are probably going to pay a lot for it.

Electro-mechanical actuators. Warner Electronics makes some also, but don't know who sells that brand. They are expensive though. If anyone knows where to get these, please let me know. I had seen them somewhere for sale but can't remember (wholesale).
