alright...i have an idea i'd like to make real for my box...it'll be killing three birds with one stone...learning fiberglass, making the box look better than straight MDF(blech), and getting me an A for school(no doubt)...
looking at the way i drew it in MS Paint, i think i like the ridged, angular look it gave...now...i know i'm not going to be able to get that exact structure with fiberglass...what i'd like some suggestions on are this..
Do you like the concept?(it will be based of my existing rectangular box)
How long would you project this would take?
What kind of materials would create the molding efficiently?
keep in mind...this will be my first experience with fiberglass...i know i will need fiberglass resin, hardener, fiberglass mat, body filler/hardener, brushes, gloves, respirators, backstrapping for the molds? or would i use something more rigid to create especially that top structure..basically the only hard part of the project...most of the other glassing will slung over MDF...most like just stretched taut from the baffles to the sides and the sides are just going to be slightly bowed...nothing extreme...remember...i'm looking at simple..but decent enough to slightly impress my Sculpture II professor...he thoroughly liked my woodworking skills when i redid my trunk area with that...so this should be good as well...sorry for the slightly long post...

-------------------- Linux Airline Disgruntled employees of all the other OS airlines decide to start their own airline. They build the planes, ticket counters, and pave the runways themselves. They charge a small fee to cover the cost of printing the ticket, but you can also download and print the ticket yourself. When you board the plane, you are given a seat, four bolts, a wrench and a copy of the seat-HOWTO.html. Once settled, the fully adjustable seat is very comfortable, the plane leaves and arrives on time without a single problem, the in-flight meal is wonderful. You try to tell customers of the other airlines about the great trip, but all they can say is, "You had to do what with the seat?"

I like it. Looks like a lot of work for a school project though. What about something a little smaller like the amp rack to begin with. Create a flush mount design maybe. Just going to be lots of work and if you screw up one side the whole thing could be lost. Just .02 from another over achiever. Looks nice though - Tell me do the subs bump out or in? Cool box though look like a spaceship engine kinda.

the subs would be flush mounted in the front...or maybe just mounted on top...i'd like flush mount..but...either way would look fine...they wouldn't be inverted or anything...my trunk isn't big enough to do that the way it's setup...the thing with this project though...is that it's not going to be due until the end of this semester, so i'd have a few months to work on it...i made it like that so i wasn't rushing it...
