Here's the deal, I'm building a system for a buddy and we're doing 2 HX2 12s in a 4.7 cubic foot ported box tuned to 40 hz. The subs are in his trunk facing forward, and I want to seal the front baffle of the sub box off from the rear of the trunk, so they fire directly into the cabin. I am at a loss as to what materials I would use to build this "trim piece." Also, it is going to be rather difficult because we built the box in the trunk, ie it is not removable. Should I just cut MDF to the right size and glue it on? I don't think that would make an airtight seal though... Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Josh

after you get the trim panels cut, you can make it air tight with about three cans of spray expanding foam, to make the trim panels i use a peice of cardbord, the trace the shape on to the mdf, nad you get a perfect fit

ABS or MDF trim ring routed to the desired shape you would like (with an 1/8" recess on the back side. staple your grill cloth across it and fiberglass that. now add fiberglass mat and sand as necessary. finish with smallest layer of Bondo as you can...this all goes to a trim ring around the enclosure face as well with the same type of recess on the outer face of the ring. paint or vinyl or carpet as you choose.

Yes, the rear seat folds down. Is there any way to make this trim piece without damaging the car? As in, I don't think he wants expanding foam permanently attached to his trunk walls. Maybe I could cover all the surfaces with something that is removable but will still seal well.... Any more ideas?

Thanks,
Josh

you can do everything i mentioned without screwing with the car itself at all. everything can be built and installed then removed without any damage to the vehicle itself.
