Well i just finished my 2 enclosures.. i think they came out good for being the 1st fibergalss project.. but when i tried to finish the fronts of them no matter what i did i could not get them perfectly smooth....
the 2nd one i used a lot more bondo and more or less just built up about an 1/8 of it and that seamed to make it better.. but still not good enough, so i ended up just covering them in vinyl...

So what do the pros here do to get the perfect finish??

next time i think i may also use car paint and a sprayer since i think it would fill in better than just spray paint cans...

Use sanding blocks when you are doing the shaping on the fiberglass/bondo.

Sand the fiberglass/bondo down to 180 grit, then spray on a polyester primer which will fill in heavy scratches, sand that with 320 grit, then 400 grit, then it's ready for paint.

ok, so the polyester primer is probably what i needed. i jsut used normal prmer from home depo...

also how much bondo do you use? cause on one enclosure i used just thin coats (about 2) and on the other one i tried a thick coat, which seamed to look better after sanding.. but still could of used another coat of bondo i think...

wheres a good place to get the build up primer?

another good thing to have is icing, its finishing body filler....u dont put it on thick, but very thin.....u can pick it up at body shop supply stores, and yes....use a sanding block, makes a BIG difference

you can get it all at Finish Master here in Fresno. there are a couple of primers like that. I used the PPG NCP280 and you need the NCP285 hardner/catalist/activator, can't remember which they call it. it will be about $70 then you need to spray it.
