I just saw on CNN that the state of Oklahoma voted to outlaw car stereos that could be heard a certain number of feet or more away. That totally sucks.

so what if your stereo is capable of being able to be heard that far away but the volume knob is broken so it won't go that loud just kinda an excuse if they try to gank it.

as far as I know, here in San Antonio there are 2 ordinances. The lesser of the two, is "Noise Pollution". This is defined as being able to hear your car stereo from 50 feet away. The fine for this is $100. ( I paid once..HINT.. NEVER BASS IN DOWNTOWN SAN ANTONIO !!!!!) The second of the two ordinances is "Noise Violation". This is defined as basically being so loud, that they break out a meter and measure how loud you are. Depending on where you are, the level aloowed changes from area to area. I asked one cop what the level was, for noise violation. he said he has never heard of anyone in San Antonio getting that ticket. But I would imagine it would cost a bit more than $100. Besides.. I wonder what mic they would use????

Just be glad that we don't live in Daytona. I swear that cop would pull you over and immediately give you a sound ordinance violation if you farted in you car!

haha we have that law here to, only time its inforced though is in neighborhoods and on sundays, shoot when you get caught booming around town usually the cops will stop you and want you to pump it up and the say oh that aint loud such and such is louder than you just so you will go buy somemore stuff since the owner of the shop here in town contributes alot to the police fund.

I've been pulled over 10 times in 3 different cities for "noise ordinances". As long as you keep your head straight about the laws and know how to estimate distances in your head, police can't do a damn thing. Always pay attention when you go boomin'. Better safe than sorry, or broke.
