the result was better gas milage and emissions, but still not enough to pass the third time around. after much desperation I looked at my friends truck (exactly like mine) and found that the carb shop had switched some vaccum hoses so I fixed it. I took it to the Testing center and everytime something came up (no certificates, tech is sick and most recently "Machine broke") so after finding another place the guy there was like "you modify headers, take somewhere else" (what a jerk) so I had to wait till they fixed the machine at the other place. I went yesterday and it passed.

Yah - Northern VA is getting pretty tough on emissions now too. All of the DC-Metro area for that matter. Although, in No.VA we have to get the cars inspected every year & emissions every 2. In MD, it's just 1 inspection for the life of the car. Unsure about emissions in MD - we moved before they came due again.
I know, the Teamsters probably aren't in favor of emissions standards on diesel rigs, but I would think that they should be monitored too. Maybe it's just me though.
I think some of the parcel companies & local delivery companies use Natural Gas engines in their vans/trucks. Anyone know how a NG engine compares to a traditional unleaded engine? If they are comprable in power (and cost?) it may become a viable alternative. I think Brazil uses Gasahol (gas/ethanol mixture) due to some of the heavy pollution there - that's old data though, so it may have changed.
I digress - sorry. Gratz on making the mods & getting it passed .
