I was wondering if a line driver would help my SPL?

Thanks

well the more volts you can get to your amp the more the amp can use its full power and the more power usally means more db right...
I have one, I know for some guys it make a 1 or 2 db difference, you need good rca voltage

Well, if you really think about it, even the most powerful line drivers arent going to give you more than 2 watts of preamp power. Must HU's will give you less than .5 watt.

So, I guess you could say that's an extra watt or two of amplification you get with a line driver. I doubt u would see this in your SPL score.

On the other hand, I do know of some competitors that use line drives and have told me they saw their score go up after adding them.

yes it helps. especially if you have a wimpy hu that is not capable of driving your amp to full output.

yes a line driver could help your spl. if u want a really good line driver preamp here is what u do.

1. get a small 20 watt x 2 chanel amp.
make shure its not a big amp or u will over drive the amps used for subs and highs.

2. hook the speaker leads to the rcas.

in a earlier post sombody said a line driver only gives out 2 watts. Well if u get a small 20 x 2 watt amp and have the gain set really low then that would give u alot more voltage. This is because rca voltage is a/c current correct. Now output of an amp is a/c current. so there for u get alot more volts of input rather than useing a costly line driver. just my thoughts ive done this for a sq set up beofore. dk

who says u cant have a beating system in a race car?

yep, back in the olden days before there were line drivers we would take a linear 452iq amp and use it as a line driver.

Will use an amp as a line driver blow the imputs Vf the second amp. My current amp have 1,5V imputs and I think a line driver amp will put over 10V.

Make sure your amp can take a higher input most amps will blow up if it is to high of votage.it seems that 4 vots is perfect.

As long as your HU can give your amp the necessary input voltage to drive it to full output, a line driver will not do much good, except for lowering the noise floor. Oh, it could be used to drive the inputs to the point of clipping.

I have an audio control 4.1 line driver with a soundstream rubicon 1002 for my subs. how many volts does that line driver add and how many volts will my amp hold before getting hot.

Mmats amps dont need alot of voltage and infact a line driver will most likely cause them to clip even with the gain on the amp all the way down, trust me, I have a D100hc and a PG line driver, well the Line driver isnt in anymore, since I dont like for my subs to go b___u___m____p_____ hehe, just a little explaination of what high signal voltage does to the Mmats class D amps, I read somewhere where they only need .5 to 2.5 volts and max is like 4, hope that helps.
