Has anyone ever added threaded rod to an enclosure and had negative results? I just did some from side to side in my box and it sounds quieter to the ear than what it did before I added it. It may be that it is just doing it's job and keeping the box vibration down to a point where I could notice it. In the past I've found that when I can stiffen areas to reduce vibration it tends to bring my spl score up and I hope it's the same in this case.

I'm really thinking that it isn't going to have a negative effect since I've already done some tests with 2X4's and they added .2db's. Since the 2X4's worked so well I decided to just replace them with something much stronger and is why I went with 1/2" threaded rod with both flat and lock washers.

Anyone care to share your experiences with the stuff?

It usually lowers your freq and that "sometimes" can cause a problem. But usually its good.

I don't think that it's going to be a problem. After some testing last night it may have lowered the freq a little bit and it does sound much louder to the ear now. Not that the ear is the bets judge of spl, but I think that it did help out.

i have used it and it has done real good for me .

as for lowering freq it did not for me .

without it i was at 62 hz and added 2 3/4 rods to my wall .

and still sit at 62 hz but before i added it i was at 155.2

after i added it i was at 157.8 and climbing

I have only used them once. They did their job, but also allowed me to see other weak points in the enclosure.
