Ive heard the new cones are quite a bit stronger to avoid some reliability issues the old cones were having.

But has anyone seen a change in SPL from switching cones?

Thanks

some people say the new ones are louder, some say the old ones are louder. it just depends on who you talk to.

Ive already got solo Xs and theyre louder than my DDs were. [Angel] Was just asking as far as switching coils and buying the newer style spair instead.

I'll be putting up a certified score with them near the end of July [Wink]

X's are about as loud as DD's but are a little harder to tune and get the right box for. But in a CRX the DD's will be louder due to the kind of box the X's require to get loud. In my Yaris where size of doesn't effect SPL like a crx my X's did almost the same number as my DD 9510's.

As for the cones the new cones are 100% better than old ones for taking abuse and they don't get quieter from testing over time like the old one's used to.

What about the voice coils. I always had a problem with my coils unraveling. I never had that problem with my MTs on the same set up.

I ran 10 of the new DP 12s.

AWESOME woofers I had 20kw+ on 10 of them and would throw down music at right at 161db.

im playin around with an explorer and 6 10s this time. Trying to take advantage of as much cone area as I can. Seems to be working alright so far.

In my CRX with Solo X's old dual 2 ohm cones, I did a 154.0 and I swapped it out with the newer dual 4 ohm cones and did a 153.8, all with the same setup, last year at Nopi Nationals in GA. I personally have not tried DD's, but I have had pretty good numbers with my Solo X's.
