I have a pair of 18 inch MTs. Very nice subs. I HAVE tested these against 18 Atomics. I also know of 3 other vehicles that have GAINED by a direct swap out from Atomic/ Matrixx to the MTs. I also know that we have not seen a SINGLE blown one yet.
MTs......... Eric used them at SBN to win Street B. Willy used them at SBN to win SSNW Pure Pressure used them at SBN to win SS3-4 Pro Truck used them at SBN had the ss1-2 record for a short time.
These subs are NOT to be taken lightly. They are VERY loud. In my testing I have done a 156.8 in SSNW. I used 4 MTX 1501Ds. (HALF power) I did a 157 last year with RFLs.....8 amps (Full power) Testing this year I did a 157.4 with RFLs and 8 amps. In the SAME box I got the 156.8 with only half the amps. I did swap Atomics into that box. With half power they still fell short of the MTs.

I've spoken to a local dealer here that deals with Treo and RE subs. He said that the MT subs are indestructible. They are designed for unlimited wattage and will take any amp on the market No problem.
They've tested a MT 12 with 6000RMS and it ran just fine no signs of destruction.
The MT's are the new subs of SPL. The cool thing is the local dealer is working on suppling their own warranty for the subs since RE isn't. Now how cool is that.

There was a guy here a week ago at a show that tore the spiders completely off of the basket on both of his RE MT 18s i think it was. He had 4 MTX 1501Ds on each.

I have burped mine at 163+ db over 50 times without failure. This is on the new termlab sensor in a Super Street 3-4 vehicle. In my opinion one could go down now and in my eyes its still the best woofer on the market right now. I have tested Team RF 18's, Atomic APX 18's, DD 9917's, Matrxx WX5 18's, Treo CSX 18's, ect. The customer/competitor support that David and Scott show me is unbelievable!

yup that was me. some minor setbacks are to be expected. Nothing is perfect....in spl nothing is even close. Only reason the glue came off is because of the paint on the basket. Hit dem things with epoxy and they're good so far.
