Sure do,
fill your doors with cement, build yourself a new dashboard with mdf, then redo the roof and floor of the car with mdf as well, but that is just the begging.

the only way to hit 170 is to turn your car into a tank.

For local competitions low 150's should be enough to get a trophy or even a win, depending on what class you run.

ok, this my first post here. I have a 92 grand prix 2 dr coupe, 2 12s in the trunk, and a pyramid pb1860 1800 watt amp that powers the 2 12s. i've never competed in any events or anything like that. if i wanted to get into local competitions, would i stand any chance of doing any good? by the way, the sound from my 2 subs shakes my entire car, even the mirrors on the outside of it. that probly doesn't mean much to any of you, but since this is my first system, i'm especially proud of it. ha ha, you're probly all sitting there laughing at me b/c i'm such a loser, but anyways..... thanks for the help!

thats kickass, but you'd probobly have better luck with cerwin-vega stroker 15's, i got 2 c.v's in my impala and you can hear my bass from 4 city blocks on a 400 watt amp,but im running it off of 1 channell apice so thats 100 watts to each 12"inly have the factory 6"tweeters but im not about treble it hurts my ears, bass is where it's at.

Have you ever gone to a show or been metered? What subs and what 400 watt amp are you running?
What city are you in? Do they have normal sized blocks or are they special city blocks so people can hear you farther away?

Hey Zack, did you happen to make it to any of Autosound's shows this year at Heartland Park?

dbSteve (the Judge) runs what are called mini-street classes that you would fit into. I think the first show for 2004 will be sometime in May, but it would be a great chance to come out and get your car on the mic and see where you starting from.

From there it all comes down to how much time you want to spend building and rebuilding your setup, and of course how much money you want to spend on gear.

it's not that loud outside the car. outisde of it, you can only hear it from maybe a half block away at the most, but inside the car, it's loud as hell. i'm thinking about just going into local competition here in topeka, but i don't know what class i'd be in, or if i would even stand a chance. so any feeback would be good.

nope, i haven't been to any shows, but i've hear about them which is why i wanna see what's going on first. i think i might just go check it out a couple times before i actually try to do it. if you know of any that are coming up, i'd sure be happy to hear about them.

local shows are great, you'll get an idea of how loud your car is compared to the other people's.... see what people are running, even will get a few tips how to improve, and maybe there might be a few people that actually know a decent amount about stereo that will be willing to help you.

if you wanna compete, even on the local level, 1: need to have a ported box, 2: run sine waves(pure bass tones) instead of music or bass songs.

those 2 thing will increase your score easily by 3dB each.... 6dB is a big big jump especially considering it only costs you $20 in wood and $20 for the cd.
