need box help for 2 18w3's, spl in an astro.

current box is setup for 2 15's memphis subs, 11.5 cubes.
i want to open the holes, and retune it for the jl's.

i will have 2000-3000watts to work with. tuned around 47 hz. this is an extreme vehicle with about 6 inches of floor buildup.

so is 11.5 cubes the right ballpark for room or what? how many sq inches of port should i use?

thanks,
mike

Your running 2 18w3's in EX-2? Uh, sorry man. I'd stick to SS or maybe street classes if they allow it.

tell me this, if gift cert. are being given away and there's not any compitition in an extreme class and you have the subs, why not?

and they don't allow 18's in street.

Look man, I didn't mean to rub you the wrong way. I'm sorry if I did.

The reason I said what I did is because I wouldn't think of the W3's as being suitable EX subs. They simply can't compete with the biger subs commonly seen in those classes. However if your competing in the situation you've described, I agree with you, why not.

if you don't already have it, I'd suggest downloading WinISD from www.linearteam.org . It's helped me a lot with this kinda stuff, and should be a really good tool for testing potential setups for you.
