I just built the biggest box possible for my friends mx3. It is a crx style box with the subs up and port back. It is 2 chambers, each with 40 sq in of port (tuned to 49 hz), and 2.65 cubes after port, brace, and sub displacement. There will be a total of 4000 watts, so 2000 for each sub. He is trying to determine which subs will best fit this space. I know that he would like to use 15s, but we are not sure about space. He has been thinking about 2 9515s or 3515s. Possibly 9512s.
My concern is that if he uses 12s, that 15s still would have been louder (even though maybe not used to their full potential). What sub (size and brand) do you think would fit this application best?
Oh yeah, the amps do full power into 1 ohm and are not strappable, so the sub MUST be dual 1 or quad 2 ohm. Thanks
(sorry brandon, I had to ask this question to see what other people thought)

I dont think I made it clear about the amp situation. He is useing 4 1000 watt amps that do power into 1 ohm, and running 2 subs (2 amps per sub). Therefor, the sub needs to have dual 1 ohm coils so that he gets full power. Give me some ideas here!

problem is that the sp's are dual 4 ohm only, and these amps dont strap.
HERE IS MY BIG QUESTION: Would 2 9512s in this box be louder then 2 9515s in the same box with the same power? REMEMBER, this box is only 2.55 cubes after displacement. WOULD THE 9515 STILL BE LOUDER EVEN THOUGH THE BOX IS TOO SMALL? Let me know what you think. Thanks

hey nate, its alex, I am gonna say to go with the 15's because of the cone area ( I am assuming that the 12's and the 15's have about the same efficiency) So they will move more air, well thats my $.02 P.S.- I am sure whatever you guys choose is going to be DAMN loud.

I would try a quad coil DD9515 since that air space is too small for 15's. If it was my car I would get a quad coil DD9510 and go with a larger vent. 'cause a good box makes all the difference
