Son's 89 S-10 Blazer, two door. Four 12" Memphis HPO Subs,in a 10cf ported box tuned @ 48hz. Two Mempis ST1000D's. Right now they fire UP. Should we aim the box forward and make it into a wall by filling in the gaps with mdf. We both compete in USAC,my son is already in 301-600 Mod. because the box is past the window line.
Which works out well because I'm in 301-600 Stock.
We don't have a problem with it being walled, just don't want to go to all the trouble if it's not going to improve his SPL. The wall if built will be right behind the back seat, for comps. we will fold the seat down. Any help or advice would be appreciated!!!!

well with a wall you should definately get a noticable increase or something is wrong.. but anyway first you might wanna try having the subs and ports kinda close to the back and have them fire up at an angle towards the rear glass

During one of the comps. we flipped the box and fired them back(not angled),the problem there was that the box is pretty high. There might be a six inch or so gap between the box & roof. We thought that wasn't enough space for wave to get up and over.It also wreaks havoc on the back glass.Pushes it out a couple inches.
The other night I took a bunch of blankets from the laundry room and stuffed them all around the box (subs forward)and made a wall. The best the blankets would let me. Seemed Louder.

Stack all 4 subs on the passenger side, tightly together, and a nice big fat port on the driver's side! Nice, nasty,- loud wall!! Gotta love it!

I too own a s10 blazer though mines 92. I got the same problem and the best way to deal with your problem is to build a wall. That way, none of the bass can escape from anywhere else. Put all the subs on the passenger side and build a vent on the drivers side. Should increse SPL by some.

I ended up getting a wall and i gained 2+ db i think. THe only problem is I don't have a passenger seatbelt and my seats don't go as far back now. But it's cool.
