because of the characteristics of a free air sub, the enclosures tend to be very very large to get them to work correctly. you are talking about a sub that is made to work in over 15 cubic feet, and up to 25-30 cubic feet. Your enclosure would have to be huge. You would be better off buying another sub and building a small enlosure.

do you have the specs?

some well designed free air subs, in fact have a very stiff suspension (indicated by a low VAS) that make them suited to smaller boxes

Thats ok i worked out an enclosure with WINISD
I built a ported 3.9CuFt tuned at 37Hz (It takes up 95% of the space in my boot)and i faced the sub and the port toward the rear facing slightly up.
It absolutely cranks for the amp im using(2/1Channel Power Acoustik 300watt PA-352) i dont know a DB rating but it hits hard enough to put a fair bit of pressure on ur chest and it blurs my vision a fair bit too.

My freind has a 12"Rockford Fosgate Punch sub in a factory built enclosure with an 800watt Kenwood amp powering it and this thing ive got was overpowering his music.

And one of my mates said he can here me coming for like a block away and it shakes the windows in the front of his house.

So im happy with it even if it means giving up my boot space [Smile]

If its not a reasonably high DBrating i would hate to see what the 150 and 160 cars do to your car Vibrations wise [Smile] LOL

anyay enough of me dribbling on

thanks for the advice everyone

You can be over 140 now, but I doubt that you are over 150.

For 150 you need a lot of power (at least 1 kW) and some testing.
