Hi. I'm looking into doing a bit of local competing, and would like to hit at least 140 dB. This is going to be a tough feat to accomplish, seeing as my maximum budget is $800 or less (subs and amps, planning on building a box myself) and the fact that I have alot of air to move. Also, building a wall is out of the question. I would also like somewhat decent SQ, not the best, but no wet farts. My thoughts so far are as follows:

2 sealed or ported DD 3015's off a Memphis / Crossfire

1 ported DD 9015 off the Memphis / Crossfire

1 ported DD 9515 off the Memphis / Crossfire

4 sealed MTX 5000 15's off the Memphis / Crossfire

The only reason I am considering the 9500 is that I have found them for sale at a few dollars over dealer cost. Sorry, can't say who it is... At least until I have gotten mine. There really is no point to stepping up to the 9500 with this power, but I may wish to step up to higher power later on.

I am definitely open to other suggestions, but these seem to be the best options as of right now.

Any insight is greatly appreciated, and perhaps will be rewarded by the name of the party selling these DD's...

well i am a newbe..... but i would go with the DD. I am not to much on the sound of the mtx. but the dd is very good. And to me the dd is a better spl sub. i would go with the 9015 or the 9515.

oh yeah you can email that dealer at jrice@infoave.net

ok here it is. The 4 MTX 5000 15's should be able to reach high 140's - low 150's. If the enclosure is done right. With 1 DD 9515 I don't see why 145+would be a problem at all. Did a 143.8 with 1 stroker 15 in a civic with 600 watts. And that was back in 96 when you didn't see too many single sub systems do 140's. I would stay away form the 3015 if spl is what you are after. The 9015 should be able to do low to mid 140's as well. Hell either of the DD subs could do 150+ possibly. It's all up to you but 1 15 doing 145 is alot more impressive than 4 15's doing a 148. Just an example.

One more thing I have almost accomplished my goal of 145 with 1 ten.
------------------
1 10 going for 145+
2 10's going for 150+
Wish me luck

I also had a 15 inch stroker in the trunk of a civic with 1000 watts. I was able to beat the guy next to me by a decibel whom had 4 MTX 3000 or 5000 12's in an extended cab.
